Position Summary

The Brand Manager (Hurley) is responsible to execute, manage and deliver the Hurley strategy in line with Company's strategic objectives.

Acting as the Brand Custodian, the Brand Manager's primary responsibility is to ensure the health of the brand holistically with regards to a balanced product range and assortment of merchandise that is correctly priced in line with the market needs.

You will also be accountable for the marketing

strategy of the Brand, for building and fostering a close relationship with the Brand Principal and will be directly accountable for the effective leadership, "health" and profitable management of the brand.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for driving the brand strategy so as to achieve a financial performance in line with Brand positioning and agreed objectives.
  • To ensure the achievement of the Financial Performance of the Brand as agreed and budgeted.
  • Responsible for leading full buying process for the brand including range architecture and procurement of seasonal product ranges.
  • To initiate, manage, implement and support the creation and execution of a strategic long-range planning process for the Brand and the organization as appropriate.
  • To work collaboratively with all relevant business partners in order to ensure the achievement of all contracted Service Level Agreements (SLA's) through effective cross-functional integration and execution of strategy.
  • Ensure development of marketing plans in conjunction with required stakeholders to deliver the marketing and promotional strategy of the Brand.
  • Oversee the management of functional relationships between the Company and the Hurley Brand Principal, suppliers and internal/external stakeholders to ensure the achievement of operational deliverables.
  • Coordinate planning and budgeting including post seasonal analysis, market feedback, trend analysis and retail shopping lists.
  • Collaborate with Planning to agree sales plan, profitability targets and pricing architecture.
  • Ensure the range satisfies both the wholesale and retail strategies and provide input to both these channels.
  • Collaborate with Retail Operations to co-ordinate seasonal retail and wholesale VM strategy and to successfully implement all VM guidelines in line with Brand standards.
  • Guide and influence all Brand DNA experiences in both retail and wholesale channels.
  • Management, control and reporting on business performance in regards to sales, stock availability or distribution, budgets, forecasts, etc.
  • Create presentations for monthly and quarterly Business Reviews and regular updates to Executive Management.
  • To identify and analyze new business opportunities, outlining analytical plans, metrics, key performance indicators, risk and managing the implementation of the proposed changes.
  • To facilitate and support continuous business process improvement that will drive operational excellence and manage risk.
  • To regularly and consistently perform deep dive analysis to understand drivers of Brand and/or the business; in order to provide in-depth market and competitive insight to help inform and drive the growth agenda for the Brand.
  • To ensure effective people development and alignment within the Brand in order to build capacity and capability to meet current and future business objectives.
  • To enable an effective practice of people management processes in order to create a productive work environment that is aligned with the Company's Vision and Values.
  • Oversee the entire procurement process and stock level management.

Education and Experience Requirements

Matric qualification

Bachelor's degree in Commerce/Business Administration
  • Essential:
A Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in a Brand Buying & Marketing Management capacity.
  • Essential:
Experience in managing the sales performance of a Brand.
  • Desirable:
Previous experience with International major Brand Licensors.
