Valor Hospitality partners is recruiting for our client, a prestigious wine estate in Stellenbosch, seeking an experienced Front Office Manager with OPERA experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily front office operations, managing reception and switchboard staff.
  • Act as the Manager on Duty, ensuring a positive guest experience.
  • Handle reservations, bookings, and payments.
  • Proactively engage guests and colleagues with professionalism and efficiency.
  • Drive revenue generation efforts.
  • Monitor operational budgets for efficiency and adherence.
  • Ensure smooth operations in all areas of responsibility.
  • Supervise currency exchange and update foreign currency rates.
  • Control PX and PM accounts to minimize revenue loss.
  • Ensure correct and timely payroll procedures.
  • Assist with AM and PM shifts, ensuring task completion.
  • Handle complaints, special requests, and disturbances.
  • Enforce financial controls and assist with expense control.
  • Embrace and promote the ethos of the wine estate, including sustainability practices.
  • Foster positive relationships with team members and support areas.
  • Provide training and development opportunities for staff.
  • Conduct meetings and delegate responsibilities.
  • Uphold Spier's values and strategic goals while seeking improvements.
  • Fluent English speaker, additional languages desirable.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and Opera or other Hotel Management Systems.
  • Strong time management and financial acumen.
  • Detailoriented with excellent followthrough.
  • Diplomatic and friendly with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Calm and professional under pressure.

Requirements:

  • 3 years of experience as a Front Office Manager with OPERA knowledge.
  • Previous experience in Reservations.
  • At least 5 years of hospitality industry experience.
  • Familiarity with front office and reservation operations.
  • Managerial experience with clear communication skills.
  • Knowledge of budgets and financial management.
  • Tertiary degree in a relevant field preferred.
  • Efficient in time management and computer skills.
  • Fluent in English, additional languages a plus.
