Assistant Accountant
Reporting to the Financial Manager, the Assistant Accountant will support with the day-to-day operations running of the finance function. Core activities of the team includes all aspects of Accounts Payable, supplier payments, cash/banking and reconciliations.

The team supports the Group Financial Controller and Financial Controller, who are responsible for the monthly management accounts, the annual audit, tax compliance (including VAT, corporation tax and payroll taxes), efficient working capital management (including Accounts Payable and bank activities) and working closely with the M&A and Integration team.


Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Manage supplier invoices
  • Receive and code invoices into Acumatica (our Ledger)
  • Enter and track invoices for approval
  • Maintain invoice filing system
  • Communicate with suppliers and other departments to resolve queries
  • Prepare supplier pay runs
  • Reconcile supplier statements and ensure all regular monthly invoices are received prior to month end
  • Maintain & update accounts payable process documentation
  • Reconcile Supplier invoices to Sales and Billing system
  • Review and Release invoices from automated scanning system
  • Manage staff expenses
  • Check expenses comply with company policy
  • Prepare expenses for inclusion of payroll run
  • Answer queries from staff and managers relating to expenses
  • Cash Reporting maintain and produce daily cash report (and support its automation in the medium term)
  • Adhoc projects and other activities
  • Provide cover for other team members (holiday/illness), including transactional processing and reconciliation for bank accounts and direct debit lodgements
  • Assist with the annual audit and provision of sample evidence to auditors
  • Supporting the Finance leadership with integrating future acquisitions into the core Babble finance processes
  • Supporting the Finance Manager with systems and process improvement projects within the core finance team

Who we are looking for:

  • An experienced finance professional with experience in a recurring revenue business
  • Experience in all daytoday activities of a small finance function, especially Accounts Payable and banking
  • Familiarity with accounting systems and online banking portals
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail
  • Reasonable systems/IT/Excel skills and a willingness to learn
  • Adaptable and flexible willing to support the team across different activities as required
  • Aptitude for working to deadlines, desire to take ownership for own work and be part of a small hard working team supporting a growing business
