The School Governing Body of Zwaanswyk Academy seeks to employ a vibrant young Primary School Counsellor or Social Worker to join our dynamic school team.


Duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group counselling to help learners effectively cope personally, Socially, academically and attend to family concerns.
  • Consult with parents, teachers, administrators and supporting staff concerning the needs and abilities of learners.
  • Update and maintain confidential learner records and process notes,
  • Identify learners at risk and make appropriate recommendations and referrals with knowledge of the relative administrative forms (Form 22) and protocols.
  • Assess, design and implement counselling programmes, interventions and workshops to the Zwaanswyk student body and staff. Monitor and evaluate these interventions.
  • Assist and advise the SBST and discipline teams with appropriate intervention plans
  • Build and maintain appropriate resources and referral databases.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors' Degree or Equivalent in Psychology or Social Work. Active Registration with the HPCSA or SACSSP.
  • Knowledge of the relevant legislation pertaining to the safeguarding of children, Child Protection Act [No ].
  • Fluency in English along with good written and verbal communication skills. Fluency in Afrikaans is advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Maintain neat and uptodate record keeping.
  • Exhibit warm, positive communication and listening skills.
  • Be able to build and maintain appropriate relationships
  • Must have your own transport
  • Must be able to present a police clearance
