  • We are looking for a VTP Coordinator who will support implementation of VTP related activities in line with HIV/TB strategy at District, subdistrict & facility level. This will include serving as program content resource on VTP to both Anova and Department of Health Clinical Staff, Sub-Partners and to Sub-District Managers in ensuring that programmatic activities and goals are achieved. Responsible for overseeing the implementation of facility case finding (HTS), prevention strategies, case management and retention support activities within the Western Cape APACE program through coordinating the various projects facets, including HR, logistics and administration._

Key responsibilities

  • Support implementation of VTP related activities in line with HIV/TB strategy at District, subdistrict & facility level
  • Provide leadership and oversight to Anova VTP peer support counsellors allocated to work at primary health care facilities and hospitals.
  • Work with a team of Anova VTP peer support counsellors and ensure that they meet all required DoH standards to provide prevention strategies, case finding, linkage to care and retention in care strategies.
  • Oversee implementation and maintenance of VTP activities at facility as required and ensure compliance with DoH policies.
  • Coordinate project HR processes, ie HR planning, recruitment, timesheets and leave management.
  • Coordinate project logistics processes.
  • Coordinate project compliance to standards, policies, and guidelines.
  • Identify training needs at facility and community level and works with line manager to make logístical arrangements for such trainings.
  • Collaborates with other Anova programs to provide training and mentorship regarding prevention, case finding, linkage to care and retention in care strategies and related activities when required for facility team.
  • Anticipate implementation challenges and take effective corrective measures as required.
  • Keep abreast of all prevention strategies, case finding, case management and retention support programrelated developments, guidelines, and protocols, and ensure services are providing in line with DoH guidelines.
  • Coordinate all data collection and management processes provided by your teams.
  • Engage in data quality assurance and internal control activities
  • Monitor field data collection processes.
  • Review data reports with teams and develop quality improvement processes.
  • Ensure total compliance to data SOP and participate in data audits.
  • Support the functioning of the internal M&E system.
  • Liaise regularly with Anova M&E department to ensure accurate project reports
  • Update project assets registers and inventories.
  • Administer projects assets.
  • Laisse regularly with Anova M&E department to ensure accurate project reports.
  • Provide support to all projects during monitoring and evaluation visits.
  • Ensure prompt submission of monthly and quarterly narrative reports to line managers, and ad hoc reports as required.
  • Respond to all requests for relevant information when required.
  • Schedule and coordinate the daytoday activities of team members.
  • Assist the VTP Technical Advisor with setting performance goals and reviewing the performance of all team members.
  • Assist the VTP Technical Advisor to monitor and actively manage team cohesion and individual motivation.
  • Assist the VTP Technical Advisor to orientate, train, mentor, coach and develop team members to be competent on all aspects of their work.
  • Participate in management meetings, area meetings and other meetings as required.
  • Identify critical programme stakeholders and establish working relationships with them.
  • Work closely with community support partners, NGO's and CBS.
  • Manage and maintain functional relations with all internal and external stakeholders including DoH and other partners.
  • Ensure strong communication channels that result in early problem identification and trouble shooting.
  • Represent Anova at meetings and relevant VTP workshops.
  • Identify talent among projects staff.
  • Ensure that project staff participate actively in decision making.
  • Manage performance of project staff
  • Create avenues for regular information sharing and learning.
  • Manage staff retention.

Minimum qualifications, Experience and Skills required

  • Postgraduate degree in Health/ Social Sciences or equivalent would be advantageous.
  • At least 5 years' experience in project or operations management
  • At least 5 years' experience in HIV or public health environment
  • Able to demonstrate ability to update and maintain a data repository.
  • NIMART Certificate advantageous


Computer Literate
  • MS Office Packages (MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel & PowerPoint).
  • Excellent Communication skills and ability to speak one of the
