Job Description

To implement, align and maintain RMBs Operational Risk Framework in order to ensure the bank is protected from operational risks that could interfere with the achievement of business goals and objectives

To guide the efficient and effective governance of operational risk and related opportunities across the business, ensuring that the operational risk profile is within the approved operational risk appetite

  • Initiate dialogue to build professional working relationships with all stakeholders displaying excellent abilities to listen, advise, influence, negotiate and present at all levels
  • Lead and facilitate difficult conflict situations into consensual agreements
  • Integrate opinions and information provided by various sources to make strategic decisions
  • Adapt communication styles to meet the needs of different audiences
  • Continually scan the industry to identify opportunities to create strategic partnerships with key individuals and bodies
  • Cultivate and manage objective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including endusers, SMEs, project managers and senior staff members
  • Provide leadership vision and direction for operational risk management across RMB
  • Understand the endtoend operational risk process and how to optimise it
  • Review RMBs operational risk strategy in light of changing requirements and monitor the implementation thereof
  • Ensure that appropriate governance forums and structures exist to provide operational risk oversight and that these structures are documented
  • Partner with business units CROs to ensure that the operational risk appetite remains relevant and drive the reporting and monitoring of the operational risk appetite for RMB
  • Ensure that operational risk awareness and a risk management culture is embedded in the organisation
  • Provide expert input into committees on operational riskrelated matters to ensure informed decision making
  • Provide effective risk assurance on the overall RMB control environment
  • Drive the build out of combined assurance activities with internal and external audits
  • Take full responsibility for performance management of all direct reports managing their performance in relation to quality standards and agreed benchmarks and objectives focusing on all aspects of sound people management
  • Engage in recruitment development, performance management, remuneration and rewards, career path planning, on the job training, coaching, and mentoring
  • Ensure appropriate levels of management and accountability
  • Motivate, delegate, and empower appropriately, enabling direct reports to take responsibility and display appropriate creativity and initiative
  • Work with the team to actively grow their skills and lead them in operational excellence
