A well-established independent community pharmacy situated in Cape Town's Southern Suburbs requires the services of an experienced and competent Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant.


The Role
Responsible for providing pharmaceutical services within scope the of practice of a Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant.

The role includes dispensing functions, customer interaction, stock management and general dispensary administration, in a well-managed and busy pharmacy with an established clientele accustomed to high standards of service.


The role includes:

  • High standards of work and customer service and care.
  • Attention to stock control and management.
  • Administrative responsibilities and competency as part of a team.
  • Accurate dispensing practice according to the GPP standards.
  • Providing pharmaceutical and health advice to patients within the scope of practice.
  • Attention to detail and good housekeeping practices.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Matric with Mathematics
  • Qualified Post Basic Pharmacist Assistant
  • Minimum of four years experience in a busy community pharmacy retail environment.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Integrity and able to operate as part of a competent team.
  • Knowledge of the SA Pharmacy Council rules and expectations.
  • Dispensing competency and product knowledge.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ethical working practices and maintaining high standard of work.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail, and problemsolving skills.
  • Adaptability within the dispensary environment as required.
  • Competent using the RxWin dispensing platform.
  • Experience using MS Word and Excel


 Fluent in English
  • Read, write and speak. Second language advantageous.
  • Good communication skills and listening ability.
  • Numerical literacy.
  • Trustworthy and honest.
  • Excellent time management.
  • Ability to work under pressure and according to deadlines.


 Computer literate
  • MS Office

Conditions of employment

  • Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council
  • Professional Indemnity Insurance
  • Ability to work retail hours and shifts as required, including public holidays.
  • Physically fit and able to stand for a long period of time.
  • Clear criminal record
