MAIN PURPOSE / OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION


The technical team leader will oversee a team of software developers, providing guidance, direction, and technical expertise to ensure the successful completion of projects.

They will be responsible for both leading the team and contributing to the development process. The role is a combination of development and management.

RESPONSIBILITIES & KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS & INDICATORS

  • Lead a team of software developers in the design, development, testing, and deployment of highquality software solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, assisting with problemsolving and technical challenges.
  • Collaborate with project managers, solution owners, and other stakeholders to define project requirements, timelines, and priorities.
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, architectural design, coding, testing, and documentation.
  • Conduct code reviews to ensure code quality, adherence to coding standards, and best practices.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline development workflows and increase team efficiency.
  • Serve as a technical point of contact for both internal and external stakeholders, addressing technical inquiries and providing updates on project progress.
  • Stay up to date on emerging technologies, tools, and trends in software development, and share knowledge with the team.
  • Handle personnel management tasks such as performance evaluations, goal setting, and career development for team members.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team culture, promoting continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Identify training needs and opportunities for skills enhancement within the team. Facilitate training sessions, workshops, or knowledgesharing sessions to promote continuous learning and development.
  • Responsible for the adoption of the development methodology and tools used in the delivery of the development projects e.g., Jira, Managed Service engine, Gitlab, Confluence, Sharepoint, etc.
  • Responsible for the identification and decommissioning of outdated/ expired technology and frameworks.
  • Responsible for addressing audit and information security findings related to the Central Solutions Team.
  • Responsible for ensuring regulatory requirements are addressed according to agreed compliance standards.
  • Responsible for the Implementation of agreed security standards and policies within the software solution.
  • Responsible for working with the Head of Development, PMO Team and the
  • Infrastructure Team to deliver solutions that have longevity and are aligned to the desired architecture of Group IT.
  • Responsible for working closely with the Business Solution Owners to understand the requirements and provide input into the Business Strategic IT Roadmaps.
  • Responsible for providing continuous and timely feedback to stakeholders on project progress and execution.
  • Responsible for managing and monitoring time frames based on project schedules continuously to ensure the successful delivery of the projects.
  • Handson Development where required.
  • Proven experience (10 years +) in software development, with a strong understanding of software design principles, and data structures.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, VB, C#, HTML, SQL, or others, along with familiarity with relevant frameworks and tools.
  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies and project management principles.
  • Experience with DevOps
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git), issue tracking tools (e.g., Jira), and collaboration platforms.
