Scope of Services

  • Aligns the vision of client with the strategic objectives of IS in order to be part of a team with technical expertise and common goals
  • Implementing best practices to achieve technical excellence taking cognisance of the impact these changes will have on the total organisation
  • Analyses business change drivers to determine business, information, solution and information technology requirements
  • Ensuring alignment to architecture frameworks, ensuring documents and artefacts are up to date, complete and correct to ensure efficient operation of the Architecture team

RESOURCE COMPETENCIES AND SKILL:
Strategic Input

  • Understand how business and IT requirements can be met using the correct blend of existing and new IT technologies, as well as the correct blend of outofthebox commercially available software and bespoke systems development per project.
  • Produce high level enterprise conceptual architectures as well as high level solution architectures aligned to business requirements
  • Recognizing key decision points and ensuring informed architecture discussions around them.
  • Ensures the strategic alignment of IT architecture with agreed business outcomes within the portfolio, relevant IT Architecture Enterprise principles, key approved decisions and enterprise wide programmes
  • Focus solution designs on simplifying the IT architecture, reducing costs, improving effectiveness and efficiencies of the IT environment.
  • Provide input to technology strategy and roadmaps from an architectural perspective

The architectures will support the design of innovative solutions that align to IT and telecommunications best practises and frameworks and will ensure deployment of IT systems that are fit for purpose; support business needs; are future proof; are cost efficient; flexible and sustainable.

Solution Design

  • Lead projects (from a design and technical leadership perspective) through the systems development life cycle, including the successful adherence to all relevant clients IS governance.
  • Study of complete integration and architecture context of a required solution
  • Compiling and delivering of key solution design artefacts as the baseline for solution development.
  • Pivotal interaction point for all consultation on direction and guidance for technical solution and integration
  • Lead design and integration sessions
  • Compile and propose new architectural solutions and directions required to achieve the business goals of the solution
  • Perform the necessary analysis, design, modelling and documentation tasks necessary to pass clients IS governance forums
  • Design and participate in the implementation of an enterprise architecture based on business requirements and information technology strategies and trendsdelivery
  • To ensure that assessment of risks and the effects of specific requirements on other business processes and system priorities are done and to ensure technologies are aligned with business strategic objectives.
Relationship Management

  • Maintain close contact with business operations, strategies, information requirements, and priorities in order to align with IS architecture.
  • Consult with IS advisory bodies (Gartner, Tele Management Forum, etc) and vendors, as well as media scanning.
  • Ensure that project architectural risks are properly identified, assessed and handled/mitigated, and highlight/resolve interproject technical dependencies.
  • Continuously review, improve and integrate processes and systems, in order to overcome fragmentation.
Efficiency and Documentation

  • Update the Enterprise Repository and other architecture artefacts.
  • Assist with administrative requirements and compliance to policies, guidelines, processes and other governance.
  • Liaise with other departments to ensure efficient processes, quality and integrity of information and the flow thereof.
  • Ensure reasonable and practical adherence to all industry standards and best practices clients IS subscribes to (like TM Forum Frameworx, TOGAF, etc).
Activities to be performed and key outputs

  • Map business and solution capabilities in business architecture models as part of future state architectures across multiple domains for a Telecommunications environment
  • Capture architecture transformation requirements, understand the As-Is architectures, architectural gaps and map out To-Be architectures including transition architecture and roadmaps aligned to program plans
  • Develop and present the Enterprise Solution architectures to meet business/technology requirements
  • Perform architecture impact analysis for strategic projects, feasibility studies and business cases articulate and present the "architecture cases" in support of business strategic initiatives
  • Ensures architecture work products are governed by the clients Architecture governance process for the development of all architectural concepts, strategies, decisions, policies, patterns, frameworks & technology standards
