JPMorgan Equities South Africa is a registered broker on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and South African Futures Exchange and our LOBs comprise cash equities; EDG; Prime Finance; and Delta 1.

We have a position within the Corporate Investment Banking (CIB) Equity Markets Operations team for a dynamic individual who is willing to contribute by adding value to the LOBs we support, and most importantly to ensure effective trade support & trade life cycle management for the SA Equities franchise.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring a wellcontrolled and efficient operating model that includes the performance of all relevant control reconciliations including stock/cash positions and FOBO reconciliations
  • Create a robust control environment to ensure errors are detected, corrected and prevented from occurring in the future
  • Understanding the dual management systems and have the ability to introduce more control procedures to ensure the systems are always in sync
  • Trade capture in BDA & JPM corporate systems
  • Capturing of client allocations in BDA
  • Trade life cycle management
  • Trade events management
  • Liaising with sales/traders; clients; custodian and internal JPM colleagues to ensure timely and accurate processing and settlement of all transactions
  • Appropriate and timely escalation and reporting of any pertinent issues
  • Proactive problem identification and query resolution
  • Perform root cause analysis on breaks to identify the cause, increase STP and mitigate the risk of breaks reoccurring
  • Opening of accounts and reference data maintenance in BDA & JPM corporate systems
  • Ownership and resolution of all daily tasks as well as any extraordinary issues that arise
  • Support of new initiatives and or system implementations
  • Meeting all MIS and reporting deadlines
  • Implementation of new products, processes and systems
  • Provide business support to other areas of the bank as necessary
  • Maintenance of standard operating procedures
Key Competencies

  • A thorough understanding and appreciation of a sound operations control environment
  • Solid understanding of the South African equities market conventions
  • A thorough understanding of the trade lifecycle
  • Ability to develop and maintain sound working relationships at all levels, with both internal and external clients
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Client service orientated
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Ability to prioritise and coordinate work flows effectively
  • Ability to work well under pressure
Skills & Experience

  • Extensive BDA experience is advantageous
  • Open Suspense, allocation & stock BDA Accounts
  • Book/amend trades in BDA (DLPRE & DLDIR)
  • Manage price average account
  • BDA Ref data maintenance
  • Proficient excel skills
  • Relevant South African equities operations experience or theoretical understanding of Equities & Equity Derivatives products is beneficial
  • Experience working with an international bank is essential
  • Proven project experience
