Our client, a leading supplier of refrigeration solutions into the retail and FMCG space is looking to hire a suitably qualified and experienced Production Manager (to manage a large team of 50+ people), to oversee the production of their panel doors, glass doors and shelving for their clients.


Job Purpose:

  • Effectively coordinate and manage production effectiveness to ensure efficient and effective throughput in line with customer requirements
  • Overall responsibility and authority to ensure master production schedule is achieved
  • Drive world class manufacturing and quality standards
  • Drive OTIFAQ culture (on time in full at quality)

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overall production including panel, panel door, glass door, glass and shelving production with transport and planning
  • Ensure production priorities & targets are well understood and implemented
  • Managing of P&L
  • Drive the achievement of the master production schedule at all levels
  • Manage and assist supervisors in achieving production targets
  • Identify production needs and take action accordingly
  • Ensure adequate shift communication, effectiveness and handover
  • Identify bottlenecks and resolve accordingly
  • Identify and justify resource requirements in line with fluctuating demand
  • Reallocate resources in order to balance capacity demand for throughput requirement
  • Identify and implement training needs
  • Manage HR & Disciplinary issues as required
  • Ensure accurate and well managed WIP stock take
  • Identify and justify overtime needs
  • Improve production efficiency and throughput
  • Drive continuous product improvement and process improvement
  • Drive world class manufacturing
  • Understand and reduce production costs
  • Ensure equipment needs are addressed and resolved
  • Minimize down time when breakdown on plant & machinery
  • Work with QHSE coordinator in resolving Customer Complaints, Non-Conformances and implementing procedures
  • Liaise with buyer to ensure any major supply shortages are identified and addressed
  • Liaise with dispatch regarding delivery schedule
  • Work with drawing office to ensure effective assistance as required
  • Ensure quality levels are maintained at the required levels
  • Ensure Health and Safety is well maintained
  • Ensure the ISO9001 system is adhered to

Requirements:

  • Qualified Engineer
  • B.Sc in Engineering is preferred
  • At least 5 years' experience in managing a manufacturing plant is required
  • Experience within the glass, door or panel industries is preferred
  • Experience in managing factory staff of 50+ people
