Primary job function

  • Processing of payments for a large number of vendors in a timely manner, which comprises the following:
  • Loading and processing payments in the banking system
  • Loading and processing payments in the accounting system
  • Ensuring that all invoices are appropriately approved in accordance with the business Corporate Approvals Framework
  • Monthly reconciliation of creditors ledgers
  • Capturing of monthend accruals
  • Posting of journals
  • Reconciliation of accounts and checking for accuracy
  • Verifying, sorting, posting and checking of staff expense claims, bills, invoices and vouchers
  • Administering the corporate credit card process
  • Deal with any enquires raised through the shared mailbox in a timely fashion
  • Assisting in the annual external audit process in answering any questions raised with respect to expenses and payments
  • Assist the Management and Financial Accountants to fulfill other responsibilities within the Finance Department
  • Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures
  • Any ad hoc duties that may arise
Basic job requirements

  • An appropriate tertiary education (preferably commercial qualification) with a good understanding of the creditors/expense business cycle, as well as an understanding of relevant accounting and tax principles applicable
  • Being proactive in challenging the status quo, and continuously seeking to improve processes
  • Experience in asset management / financial services industry is preferable
  • MS Office, in particular Excel, and Word
  • Accpac (SAGE 300) experience would be preferable.
