DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Daily communication with mine and drilling contractor to ensure that blast planning meets expected production targets.
  • Involve all staff members and subcontractors in daily safety meetings
  • Complete all safety reporting as per company standards
  • Order all explosives requirements timeously and check the order upon delivery.
  • Complete all charging up and blasting operations in a safe and legal manner.
  • Complete all blast report information immediately after the blast and ensure that it is filed as per legal requirements.
  • Daily inspection of all company assets in his area of responsibility.

CORE COMPETENCES:

  • Certified Blaster with Blasting Certificate for the applicable class of mine
  • Five to eight years of experience in mining industry, preferably with operations in an open pit;
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written;
  • Ability to work well at a fast pace;
  • Proven commitment to Safety, Health and Environmental standards; and
  • Experience working at a remote mining site and in a crosscultural work environment.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCES:

Education/Qualifications:

  • Qualifications Grade 12 or N
  • Blasting Ticket
  • Blasting Engineering Course advantageous
  • Driver's Licence: Code B (Light Vehicle)

Other skills (languages, IT, other technical knowledges):

  • Operational experience at a Foreman or Mine Overseer level in Drilling and Blasting
  • Experience in Drilling or Blasting logistics
  • 3 years plus experience in Blasting or Drilling Operations
