Blaster

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Daily communication with mine and drilling contractor to ensure that blast planning meets expected production targets.
- Involve all staff members and sub-contractors in daily safety meetings
- Complete all safety reporting as per company standards
- Order all explosives requirements timeously and check the order upon delivery.
- Complete all charging up and blasting operations in a safe and legal manner.
- Complete all blast report information immediately after the blast and ensure that it is filed as per legal requirements.
- Daily inspection of all company assets in his area of responsibility.

**CORE COMPETENCES**:

- Certified Blaster with Blasting Certificate for the applicable class of mine
- Five to eight years of experience in mining industry, preferably with operations in an open pit;
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written;
- Ability to work well at a fast pace;
- Proven commitment to Safety, Health and Environmental standards; and
- Experience working at a remote mining site and in a cross-cultural work environment.

**TECHNICAL COMPETENCES**:
Education/Qualifications:

- Qualifications -Grade 12 or N3
- Blasting Ticket
- Blasting Engineering Course advantageous
- Driver’s Licence: Code B (Light Vehicle)

Other skills (languages, IT, other technical knowledges):

- Operational experience at a Foreman or Mine Overseer level in Drilling and Blasting
- Experience in Drilling or Blasting logistics
- 3 years plus experience in Blasting or Drilling Operations
