Work Description


The Quality Improvement Advisor will be seconded to NDoH working with the other technical advisors to effectively implement, document and report Quality Improvement activities in alignment with national strategy.

He/she will also work with the NDoH and relevant stakeholders to improve the quality of health care services in the provinces and districts.


Technical Work Responsibilities

  • Liaise with DoH and internal stakeholders
  • Act as the focal person for QI activities within the project and ensure the integration of QI approaches across all project components
  • Provide technical support to national, provincial and district health management teams in reviewing capacity and progress in using QI to improve compliance with national guidelines and improve health outcomes.
  • Guide and direct DoH Staff and other Stakeholders in the development, implementation and measuring of quality improvement initiatives
  • Closely support the project M&E team in the management of QI databases
  • Coaching and mentoring
  • Facilitate training sessions and workshops
  • Comply with management SOP's, Safety Policies, Practices, Procedures etc

Duties:

  • Liaise with all Internal stakeholders
  • Form and maintain close working relationships with various DoH and other Organizations to ensure appropriateness and correctness
  • Represent Aurum at Organizational and External Stakeholder meetings
  • Strengthen the linkages between the Programmes to foster quality improvement in Health Services by:
  • Analysing and interpreting Data to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Design, develop and monitor Improvement Projects at National level
  • Create a vision for quality improvement within DoH and other various Stakeholders
  • Capacity building for quality improvement within DoH and other various Stakeholders
  • Lead change initiatives
  • Analysing Data for Reporting and Project design purposes
  • Assist in implementation of Quality Improvement activities by working collaboratively with a Multidisciplinary Team to identify gaps in service delivery and to identify and set improvement priorities
  • Continuous report writing, record keeping of all working procedures, identification of gaps, development and implementation of new procedures and standards
  • Followup on the implementation of changes and comment on improvements, ensure continuous improvement
  • Guiding and directing DoH Staff and other Stakeholders in the development, implementation and measuring of quality improvement initiatives
  • Provide formal mentoring to relevant Stakeholders to ensure skills transfer regarding quality improvement
  • Facilitate learning sessions on a regular basis
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures according to prescribed procedures and legislation
  • Report all unsafe activities to Senior Management/Human Resources.
  • Adhere and maintain Decision making authority as allocated to the position.
  • Participate in proactive Team efforts to achieve Departmental Goals
  • Adheres to all management SOP's, guidelines and confidential agreements
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill

Education

  • An appropriate degree in Health, Public Health, Management or related field

Advantageous

  • Quality Improvement Advisor qualification
  • Business Management

_Experience_

  • Significant experience in working with the department of health
  • Should have significant previous experience and technical knowledge of quality improvement
  • At least 2 years' experience in systems design, management and analysis

_Requirements_

  • SA Citizen or valid work permit to work in South Africa
  • Basic computer skills
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Driver's license
  • Own car
  • Minimal/Moderate/Excessive overnight travel (up to 30%) by land or air if required
  • Willing to work overtime
