Industrial automation organisation is looking for a Technical Supervisor to join their team.

The Technical Supervisor is responsible for managing the technical department and stimulating sales by providing technical support pre/post-sales support team, for supporting products such as PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems, and other automation, motion control, sensors and electrical products.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage a team of support technicians. To provide leadership, guidance, and support to ensure that the team operates efficiently and effectively. This may involve task assignment, performance evaluation, and professional development planning.
  • Oversee internal projects from conception to completion. This includes coordinating with stakeholders to define project requirements, developing project plans, managing budgets and resources, and ensuring that projects are completed on time and within scope.
  • Strive for continuous improvement in processes and systems. They identify areas for optimization, implement efficiency-enhancing measures, and leverage new technologies to improve productivity and quality.
  • Ensuring a safe working environment is paramount in any industrial setting. Supervisors enforce safety protocols and compliance with regulations such as OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards and industry-specific guidelines.
  • Strong technical skills are essential for this role. Supervisors should have a deep understanding of automation and motion control technologies, including programming languages (e.g., ladder logic, C++) and hardware components (e.g., sensors, actuators). They stay updated on the latest advancements in automation technology and industry best practices.
  • Effective communication is key for coordinating activities and fostering collaboration among cross-functional teams. Supervisors liaise with Branch managers, sales teams, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and smooth operation of technical support.
  • Provide Automation product training: PLCs, VFD, Servo.
Essential requirements:
  • Relevant qualification BSc Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience in the industrial electrical field preferably within a distribution environment.
  • Minimum 5 years relevant management experience.
  • Must be able to teach complex technical subjects to groups of technicians or engineers, tailoring the talk to the level of the audience.
  • Significant, deep experience in multiple product categories including Automation, Motor Control and Drives, Energy Management and Power Distribution.
  • Own car and a valid drivers licence.
