Position

  • Climate & Environmental Risk Analyst
    Job Purpose
  • To support the technical side of the organisation's holistic risk management approach.
  • Research and analysis of the evolving practices, requirements for, and benefits of, integrating climate and other environmentalrelated risks into the traditional risk types (i.e credit risk, operational risk, market risk etc) and actively contribute to the transition across the enterprise.
  • To provide high quality climate and environmental Management Information (qualitative and quantitative) in the form of appropriate reports to facilitate the effective monitoring and management of the impacts from climate change and other environmental factors on the Group's Portfolio.
  • To support the effective risk management of the climate and environmental related risks (incl. physical, transition, biodiversity loss, natural capital, and liability risks) and opportunities across the bank by providing effective effort, advice, support, monitoring and oversight within the risk governance framework and processes to embed appropriate alignment to global best practices including, inter alia, the Taskforce on Climaterelated Financial Disclosure (TCFD), International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), Taskforce on Naturerelated Financial Disclosures (TNFD), Transition Plan Taskforce (TPT) etc.
  • Proactive contribution to evolve the climate risk frameworks, policies, and other controls to emphasise the importance and value of nature as stakeholders' expectations shift beyond netzero to naturebased solutions for climate change mitigation and ultimately a nature positive economy.
  • Driving the optimisation and automation of group level climate risk reporting through exiting solutions available in the bank and by proposing other solutions or consideration through the required governance structures.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide high quality, independent and objective quantitative and qualitative analysis of climate and environmentalrelated data to support decision making.
  • Contribution to, and coordination of (where applicable), the evolvement and review (incl. mandatory reviews) of relevant climate and environmentalrelated Risk Management Frameworks, risk appetite statements, policies, and processes etc.
  • Ensure and assist with the coordinating the revision of relevant climate and environmentalrelated Risk Management Frameworks, risk appetite statements, policies, and processes etc.
  • Excellent research and analysis skills, and ability to integrate substantial quantities of complex and constantly evolving information of climate change, and contributions from and impacts on other environmental factors such as land use, on individual assets, portfolios, markets etc.
  • Keep abreast of regulatory and industry trends around climate change and other environmental aspects (eg natural capital, biodiversity, nature based solutions etc.) to support the development of risk strategies that will appropriately identify, assess, mitigate and manage new emerging risks.
  • Ensure the identification of climate change and other environmental risks, opportunities and trends and produce required outputs, including inter alia communications, reports, analysis etc.
  • Understand the link between climate and environmental
- related risks and financial performance.

  • Assist with building and delivering climate and environmentalrelated risk identification and management training and education programs to staff to promote climate risk management knowledge.
  • Ability to engage professionally and confidently with a wide variety of stakeholders in the private, public and nonprofit sectors, and to build partnerships and manage collaborative initiatives.
  • Understanding of responsible investment, including regulatory regimes applicable to the integration of environmental, social and governance factors into investment decisionmaking; and of the intersection between climate risk and financial markets.
  • Experience in risk management practices, with a focus on climaterelated risk, along with a sound understanding of how financial institutions operate and the key risks they face.
  • Establishing processes to monitor and disseminate transition/physical risk management market standards and market expectations across the bank.
  • Documenting and communicating governance associated with climate change risk management.
  • Manage and compile quality repots for multiple parallel reporting submissions.
  • Assist with the coordination of the Climate Risk Team facilitated and supported committee meetings, and adhoc engagements.
