WHAT IS ON OFFER
Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Shift Analyst to join the team in Rustenburg.

This individual will be responsible for providing the day-to-day production support to the Rustenburg Laboratory in order to meet the overall objectives of analytical services within Alfred H Knight South Africa and for the production of results to a high degree of precision and accuracy and ensuring that an effective and high quality analytical service is provided.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Required Competencies

  • Ability to present information both written and verbally
  • Strong attention to detail and quality management skill
  • Good troubleshooting and problemsolving skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team (Team player)
  • Good timekeeping and time management skills
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of ISO17025 requirements.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of ICP-OES and classical wet chemistry
  • Basic knowledge of analytical method development and validation knowledge
  • Honest, Sober Habits, Adaptable and Flexibility
  • No criminal record
Required Qualifications

  • Grade 12 (With Maths & Science)
  • Analytical Chemistry Diploma
Required work experience

  • Minimum 5 years of Analytical Laboratory experience

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring at all times that a high degree of accuracy and precision is applied to methods and procedures through incorporating and promoting good laboratory practice principles.
  • Responsible for ensuring that work throughput is followed in accordance to documented methods and procedures. It is the post holder's responsibility to inform the Senior Analyst / Shift Chemist of any failure in compliance to documented methods.
  • Workload that is assigned to the post holder is effectively managed through the most costeffective utilization of time and resources.
  • Advising the Senior Lab Analyst / Shift Chemist of repetitive technical problems relating to daytoday analytical procedures and standard operating practices.
  • Maintaining records and laboratory data such that work is clearly and easily auditable and traceable.
  • Processing analytical data unsupervised in preparation of results being reported.
  • Ensuring the confidentiality of all results at all times.
  • Ensuring laboratory equipment and instruments are well maintained at all times with faulty equipment being brought to the attention of the Shift Chemist immediately.
  • Performing routine maintenance of equipment as instructed by the Senior Analyst /Shift Chemist.
  • Performing instrument calibrations when required, routinely performing instrument checks and recording all relevant data, as instructed by the Shift Chemist.
  • Ensuring that all laboratory work areas and workstations are kept clean and tidy, i.e. Good Housekeeping.
  • Ensuring that the Company's Health & Safety policy is applied effectively in areas under the Post Holder's control.
  • Upholding ISO 17025 / SANAS Accreditation requirements.
