  • The role holder will report to the Principal Lawyer, MEA and holds strategic ownership, accountability and leadership for telco regulatory and compliance matters for the Business CFU in the MEA region. The role holder will be responsible for engaging with senior stakeholders regarding the most complex regulatory matters in this region, will participate in the design, implementation and maintenance of key compliance management programmes and the continuous assessment and monitoring of compliance activities ensuring compliance and adherence with international regulatory and partner obligations across the Group's international markets, and for promoting ethical behaviour and building a strong "compliance culture" from management downwards.
    What you'll be doing your accountabilities
  • The holder of this role is accountable:
  • To support the business conducted by BT in the MEA region to deliver its revenue and EBITDA ambitions
  • To establish & maintain compliant relationships with regulators in the MEA region and across the industry
  • To support the development and implementation of the BT Business's regulatory strategy, including licence management and compliance obligation management
  • To devise and operate the appropriate administrative procedures to ensure regulatory compliance standards are adhered to and the approach is consistent with other regions in the AMEA region and across BT's Business globally
  • Generically, to achieve practical consistency and facilitate the exchange of information internally, externally and within the regulatory and industry environments to avoid dispute and overlap
  • To elevate compliance efficiencies through identifying opportunities for improved adherence to regulatory requirements and Group standards and the automation of queries and dashboards to drive more frequent testing and informative insights.
  • To lead project plans to address remediation efforts and testing review findings, including process updates, documentation and / or training.
  • To direct the execution of multiple concurrent reviews which may be local or multijurisdictional, including subsequent management reporting related to reviewing outcomes and findings.
To input as an expert to the formulation of regulatory policy and strategy in the MEA region and globally

  • To proactively identify and lead on resolving regulatory issues, both internally and externally as required.
  • To advise and work with the Business customer facing unit on strategic and daytoday issues relating to the MEA region, flagging key risks & issues or problems and advising on management of risks.
  • To monitor and evaluate regulatory policy highlighting issues to the BT legal and regulatory community.
  • To draft high level policy responses to regulatory bodies and interested parties both within and external to BT.
  • For all regulatory matters for the Business CFU in the MEA region this includes input into all customer and third party contracts, product launches, disputes, local law legal advice on all regulatory matters as well as local compliance with regulations
  • To provide recommendations to Legal Director/GC's/ Senior Executives
