  • You will be responsible for sourcing, selecting, and purchasing a range of homeware products that meet the company\'s standards of quality, style, and affordability.
  • Positioned within the Buying Team, this is an opportunity for an experienced Buyer to support a highperforming team in driving the continued profitability of several retail stores.
  • With both a passion for and strong buying experience, you will be responsible for developing and executing our category plans in close collaboration with the Category teams.
  • You will be required to work with a wide variety of stakeholders from both within the business and with our supply base and must therefore possess excellent stakeholder management, negotiation and problem solving skills. You will need to develop an intimate knowledge of your products and your customer, as well as the ability to stay on top of category trends, technologies, innovation, competition and supplier capability.
  • Duties & Responsibilities
  • Through a good understanding of customer demands and market/ new trends the Buyer seeks new local suppliers and selects products / items, assessing brand fit, recommending price points, quality and availability of stock;
  • Follow up on ordered products and ensure products arrives at stores in good condition and on scheduled time;
  • Meeting suppliers, build good relationships, and negotiating terms of contract, ensuring the best suppliers are found in terms of quality, price & reliability and flexibility, and required specifications are met;
  • Attending trade fairs & visiting suppliers, to source /develop new product ranges
  • Through ongoing awareness of sales vs stock levels ensure supply meets demand and in conjunction with planner ensure correct forward cover and re orders are generated timeously. Be aware of feedback from retail and how this impacts on product selection, quality issues and forecasts
  • Working with Merchandising/ Ops team to ensure that product range, trend and overall look is communicated in a clear and inspirational way so that they can correctly translate the product into store merchandising
  • Keeping up to date with competitor activity in the market place, and making recommendations to the business based on findings

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a strategic purchasing plan that meets the company\'s homeware product needs.
  • Identify and source new homeware products and suppliers, while maintaining positive relationships with existing suppliers.
  • Conduct market research to stay uptodate with the latest homeware trends and styles.
  • Negotiate prices and contracts with suppliers to ensure maximum value for the company.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to create effective product displays and promotions.
  • Analyze sales data to identify product performance and adjust purchasing strategies as needed.

  • Ability to cope with the pressure of having to make important decisions and meet tight deadlines; and work within budget and time frame
