We are looking for an experienced full time sales assistant who is confident in selling luxury goods to a mostly foreign luxury tourist market.

While experience with selling art/ photography or an interest in wildlife/ conservation would be a plus, we are specifically looking for a confident and articulate sales person to represent our brand and close in-person retail sales.


Responsibilities:

  • Meeting and exceeding set sales targets / lead targets every month.
  • Offering an exceptional experience to every customer who walks into our gallery.
  • Maintaining high energy levels personally and with the team.
  • Increasing sales beyond inperson interactions through follow up etc.

Duties:

Sales:_ Approaching prospective customers that come into the gallery, telling them more about the artist / photographer as well as the stories behind the photographs, answering questions they have about pricing, shipping, customs, etc., closing sales by offering special offers, collecting payment and arranging delivery if needed.
- _
Stock management:_Part of your role will be reconciling and checking stock occasionally, ensuring that nothing gets lost or damaged.
- _
Basic record-keeping:_You will learn how to use Shopify, Yoco, Google Drive, Slack, Dropbox, Gmail.

Desired Experience & Qualification:

  • English first language (most customers are foreign and struggle to understand accents).
  • Minimum of 12 years sales experience, preferably retail sales experience.
  • Experience in the luxury retail industry would be beneficial.
  • Experience using Shopify is a plus
  • Grade 12 certificate but tertiary qualification would be advantageous.

  • Warm and approachable demeanor which will attract customers.
  • Professional and articulate sales person who carries themselves confidently.
  • Able to think on their feet and read people well.
  • Can work well in a high pressure environment where it can get very busy.
  • As the main sales person it is imperative that you are super punctual, ultra reliable and very trustworthy.
  • Attention to detail when it comes to processing sales and interacting with customers

Package & Remuneration:

  • R8,800 basic plus 4% commission on sales

Fine Print:

  • Trading hours are from 10:00 to 19:00 (in season) and 10:00 to 18:00 (in winter).
  • We trade 364 days a year (only closed on Christmas Day).
  • You will be required to work 5 days a week.

Contract:

  • We are offering a 6month contract initially during which time sales targets will be set and if achieved a permanent contract will be signed.
  • We would like to find someone who can grow within the business into the foreseeable future.
