JOB SCOPE
As a Project Manager at AMANDLA, you will hold responsibility for the delivery of one or more core projects.

The role will require an experienced project manager with the ability to manage complex projects and the input of a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders.

Experience in the ECD space would be advantageous.


The Project Manager will be part of the Project Management Office and report directly to the Project Management Office Director and work closely with other functional Directors.

As part of one key project, the Project Manager will be required to report to one of our funders.

Core duties and responsibilities include:

  • Manage projects from design to delivery, working independently and ensuring that projects are delivered on time, on budget and meeting the funder's expectations.
  • Ensure effective and efficient delivery of tasks, with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Facilitate and document project meetings.
  • Collect and analyse project delivery and financial data on a regular basis and identify any risks to timelines or over/underspend.
  • Report project statuses and identified risks and mitigate/escalate issues appropriately.
  • Keep internal and external stakeholders informed of progress and major milestones throughout projects, managing expectations and ensuring alignment with project goals.
  • Deliver effective due diligence, onboarding, and contract management of consultants, whenever necessary.
  • Coordinate various working groups withing the project and prepare necessary briefs to the project team and external stakeholders.

Key Account Management (Funder Relationship):
a. Reporting to and communication with partners;
b. Managing site visits of partners;
c. Preparation and submission of reports (Financial & Narrative) and required auditing documents;
d. Ensuring delivery of any other contractually agreed obligations;

  • Diligently maintain CRM record (current software used: Salesforce);

CORE COMPETENCIES, ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS and PREFERENCES

Education/Equivalent:

  • Relevant professional qualifications in project management
  • Bachelor's Degree in project management, sustainable development, education or a related field (Advantageous)

Experience/Skills

  • 8+ years project management experience preferably with a focus on development projects.
  • Experience in the ECD space advantageous
  • Experience in managing local and international donors
  • Proven experience managing complex, multistakeholder projects, namely funded by institutional and multilateral donors.
  • Experience in virtual/digital team management.
  • Proven ability to execute crossfunctional projects successfully.
  • Proven ability to resolve problems in a timely and consistent manner.
  • Strong verbal and written communication.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to rally a team with a positive attitude.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • High proficiency in project management tools and Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrable experience in budget planning and reporting; ability to analyse and effectively use financial information.
  • Ability to selfmanage and complete tasks independently.
