Actuarial Product Specialist Team Lead

RPO's client in the insurance space is currently looking for an Actuarial Product Specialist Team Lead. The selected candidate will have the main responsibility of managing retail discretionary participation business, as well as assisting with the development and management of corporate structured and/or guaranteed investments.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversight, evaluation, and projection of assets and liabilities.
  • Identifying enhancements and obtaining approval from governance forums.
  • Aiding in the development of corporate structured/guaranteed investments.
  • Performing quantitative analysis and research for solutions.
  • Engaging with stakeholders and preparing product approval documents.
  • Reviewing and suggesting changes to management actions.
  • Recommendation of bonus rates (interim, final, claim, reversionary, or terminal).
  • Reviewing and revising the bonus philosophy and developing new smoothing formulas.
  • Constructing, revising, or evaluating models to measure financial impacts.
  • Suggesting modifications to the segment Principles and Practices of Financial Management (PPFM).
  • Managing statutory and contractual obligations.
  • Minimizing financial, legal, and reputational risks.
  • Ensuring adherence of administration systems to contractual obligations.
  • Integrating governance into manual processes to mitigate operational risks.
  • Reviewing legal documentation (client contracts, counterparty agreements, etc.).
  • Actuarial, compliance, and performance reporting.
  • Establishing and nurturing relationships with stakeholders.
  • Leading projects to completion within set timelines.
  • Undertaking occasional actuarial tasks and resolving technical questions.
  • Supervising a small team, assigning tasks, reviewing work, and promoting staff growth.

Requirements

  • Qualified or nearly qualified actuary
  • Minimum of five (5) years' relevant experience preferred
  • A background with RiskAgility Financial Modeller will be advantageous
  • Solid understanding of discretionary participation business, as well as structured and/or guaranteed investments
  • Capacity to work precisely under pressure
  • Exceptional attention to detail and focus on quality
  • Robust analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong time management skills
  • Capability to work collaboratively within a team and independently
