We are a wholesale tree farm with over 30 hectares of trees and shrubs. We are looking for a Farm Manager to join our team. The Farm Manager's responsibilities include, supervision of labour, stocktake, general maintenance of the farm & equipment and vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing daily tasks to ensure maximum production and smooth running of the farm.
  • Managing staff members (around 50) as well as keeping a record of hours worked, including overtime and rain days.
  • Planning and assisting with loading and delivering trees locally and internationally.
  • Supervising all orders that are delivered.
  • General maintenance work on the farm.
  • Controlling and maintaining of farm equipment. Such as stock take, ordering new stock, all equipment is in working condition and kept neat and tidy.
  • Ensuring the different blocks are neat and in order. Such as ensuring the weeds are all pulled out, the grass is kept short & fallen trees are picked up etc.
  • Ordering of plant bags, fertiliser as well as other related products are restocked.
  • Implementing production programmes for planting teams and setting out work schedules for staff members.
  • Ensuring that all vehicle licences are up to date.
  • Ensuring that the farm vehicles are serviced according to schedule as well as ordering spare parts as needed.
  • Maintaining irrigation systems and pumps, this includes repairing any broken pipes as well as pumps.

  • Must be computer literate, know how to work on Excel and Word.
  • Excellent organisation skills.
  • Ability to work well within a large team.
  • Good mechanical knowledge.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Excellent time management skills.

Qualifications

  • Agriculture or Horticulture qualification.
  • Code 10 license would be a bonus.
