Role Purpose

Business Development Consultants are dedicated, goal-driven professionals who excel both independently and as part of a team, securing business in alignment with predefined targets. They specialize in providing advice on motor and household domestic insurance.

Responsibilities and Work Outputs

  • Ensure a minimum of 10 client quotes per week and 40 per month
  • Write a minimum of 9 policies per month
  • Maintain and update the Lead Generation Matrix weekly
  • Conduct thorough needs analysis and provide professional advice upon client quote requests
  • Engage in active networking
  • Generate and submit weekly reports reflecting leads, quotes, sales, source of leads, average premium, total premium, and other relevant data
  • Stay informed on product comparisons, changes, and enhancements
  • Adhere to all regulatory standards and professional ethics
  • Enhance and maintain expertise to offer specialized advice across business areas
  • Adhere to required dress code and professional appearance

Experience and Qualifications

  • Matric/Grade 12 qualifications
  • FAIS Credits (minimum 30 credits in short term insurance for appointments before 2010) or a full recognized qualification as per FSCA list for appointments on or after 01/01/2010
  • FAIS Regulatory examination for Representatives (RE5)
  • 12 CPD hours
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in short term insurance sales
  • Minimum one year proof of commission earnings (R pm) for Commission-based roles
  • Own vehicle and license required

  • Exhibits strong interpersonal, conflict resolution, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in risk assessment, insurance principles, and customer service
  • Familiar with clerical and administrative procedures
  • Projects professionalism with prospects, clients, and stakeholders at all times
  • Demonstrates effective presentation, sales, and prospecting skills
