The Silo Hotel's Assistant F&B Manager is responsible in assisting with the running of The Silo Food & Beverage department.

They are knowledgeable about The Royal Portfolio properties and standards and need to ensure that they adhere to the company's purpose which is _"To give guests a complete experience and a perfect stay".

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan, supervise and control various operations, working closely and supporting the Food & Beverage Manager.
  • Constant effective communication with managers and supervisors regarding any guest or staff issues.
  • Encourage and motivate staff with a positive attitude.
  • Follow the correct cash up and management of bills and house accounts, including cash and credit card transactions.
  • Prepare reports for Food & Beverage Manager.
  • Manage Waiters, Bartenders and Runners by ensuring the smooth running of the floor and that duties are carried out in a professional and timeous manner.
  • Conduct service briefings.
  • Ensure all Front of House staff adhere to the 'company code of conduct' and 'standard operating procedures'
  • Monitor staff closely to identify any transgressions throughout service so that these can be addressed immediately.
  • Maintaining O.E, breakages and monthly counts.
  • Developing the staff roster
  • Ensure that checklists and daily duties are consistently followed
  • Follow up with guests' experiences and manage feedback
  • Ongoing menu and beverage training.
  • Assist the Food & Beverage Manager with HR related matters.
  • Submitt any changes to monthly payroll and record staff absenteeism.
  • Screening and interviewing potential team members.
  • Monitor and authorize staff clock in and clock out procedures.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS & EXPECTATIONS

  • Minimum 2 years' experience required bartending in an Upmarket Bar or Luxury Hotel
  • Experience in handling Point of Sale (POS) terminals and Stock & Inventory management software
  • Have excellent English communication skills (written and verbal). Other languages are advantageous
  • Top knowledge of The V&A Waterfront, Cape Town and the surrounding areas
  • Display positive interpersonal skills
  • Have willingness and a passion to serve
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure
  • Ability to work long hours, day and night, including weekends and holidays
  • Proven job reliability, diligence, dedication and attention to detail
  • A passion to learn, teach and drive improvement in fellow employees
  • International experience in a similar environment and travelling experience will
South African citizenship is advantageous. A valid work permit is essential if you are not in possession of a South African ID document.

All new appointments at The Royal Portfolio's properties will need to show proof of vaccination against Covid 19.
