Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintaining positive interaction with customers, ensuring that they receive quality service.
  • Recording and capturing all sales accurately as and when they occur.
  • Receiving and scanning meal vouchers for safe keeping and accurately recording the same in conjunction with the Finance Clerk.
  • Upselling products during each sale, merchandising and marketing new products introduced in the canteen.
  • Ensuring that all food items that leave the canteen have been accounted for, restricting staff members from leaving the canteen with food during service if not accounted for.
  • Ensuring that milk collection is carried out accurately, recording the opening and closing stock; and replenishing for each day. a. Issuing the milk to be used for back of house food preparation maintaining accurate stock rotation (FIFO).
  • Displaying and replenishing inventory regularly to ensure all display shelves and refrigerators are always full.
  • Recording front of house stock daily to ensure accuracy in stock management. 8. Recording wastage daily to ensure accurate reporting of stock.
  • Cleaning and dusting the till points and refrigerators / display shelves to always ensure presentability.
  • Ensuring effectiveness in the serving areas to minimize customer queues.
  • Reporting new stock items accurately and regularly to the Finance Clerk and Canteen Manager in order to capture them in the till system.
  • Receiving customer complaints in order to share with the Canteen Manager.

Experience & Qualifications

  • High school certificate/matric.
  • Financial qualification will be an added advantage
  • 3 years cashier experience (please provide contactable references).
