Job Summary


Absa Group Limited are a diversified financial service provider, offering an integrated set of products and services across 12 countries.

This role reports into a central group function known as the Converged Security Office.

The Converged Security Office provides various security related services to the Absa Group of which one is Identity & Access Management.


The overall purpose of the Head of Identity & Access Management role is to lead a team to deliver processes and systems that support effective Identity and Access Management for Absa Group.


The role is concerned with the following:

  • Requesting, reviewing, approving/declining and provisioning logical access
to technology systems and other resources such as data

  • Validating the identity of persons requesting access to and using Absa
systems

  • Certifying and recertifying access granted to users
  • Integrating system authentication (single signon)
  • Ensure adherence to policies and standards as set out by the organisation
  • Develop and continuously mature and experienced, right sized and diverse
Identity & Access

  • Management organisation, to support large scale and group wide access
management programs and operations

  • Ensure ongoing automation efforts are delivered to drive efficiency and
continuous monitoring of the company's access management controls

  • Creating, maintaining and supporting the technology toolset to enable the
Identity & Access

  • Management processes

Job Description:

Manage the Converged Security Identity & Access Management Team (50%)

  • Work with Converged Security leadership to ensure alignment to group strategic objectives Maintain working relationships with key stakeholders across the technology and business functions
  • Ensure suitable team structure, staffing levels and skill sets exist to meet business demand for new and existing services
  • Manage all aspects of performance management for the team
  • Recruit, retain and develop talent of the team
  • Manage the budget for the team by complying with company policies and financial guidelines
  • Actively manage the Identity & Access Management programmes to ensure teams are meeting
- demand for service and take action if project activities fall behind

  • Conduct periodic staff performance appraisals
Manage projects (30%)

  • Ensure delivery against group and regulatory projects that require Identity & Access Management involvement
  • Monitor and manage progress of projects being run by the team in support of the security strategy
  • Provide reporting of progress against project timelines and identify solutions to address challenges or escalate proactively
  • Ensure delivery of Identity & Access Management services and a good user experience over the group
Manage internal relationships (5%)

  • Engage with senior technology and business stakeholders to ensure integration with the group toolset run by Converged Security, understand challenges, identify solutions and escalate up the ranks when required
  • Act as management point of contact for interactions with other Converged Security teams
  • Handle technical and nontechnical escalations from technology and business functions and address or escalate as required
Compliance Management (5%)

  • Liaise with group control bodies (Internal Audit, Technology and Security Risk) ensuring best practice is adhered to at all times
  • Ensure controls operated within the Identity & Access Management toolsets are executed as designed and perform testing and attestations as required
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant policies, standards and procedures in accordance with best practice
  • Manage risks within the area by ensuring that risks are identified and controls put in place to mitigate the risk to an acceptable level
  • Facilitate audits from various parties on a regular basis and have evidence ready to prove process operation
  • Define and implement remedial actions when audits identify process gaps
Standardisation & Automation (10%)

  • Use technology and process standardisation to reduce the cost of manual user access administration and recertification
  • Identify, design and implement automation to drive efficiency and continuous operation of Identify & Access Management services
Education and experience required

  • 10 years technical IT experience
  • 5 years managerial experience
  • CISSP, CRISC, CISA or other relevant certifications preferred
  • Proven experience with identity and access management initiatives and a solid understanding of the key principles
  • Project / programme management certification essential with proven experience in managing large scale projects
