As the Procurement Manager, your primary operational duty is to oversee the controlling of project stock as well as undertaking all procurement activities, to ensure that TSEBO and project standards of performance are maintained; as well as developing operational efficiency.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee and supervise the purchasing department.
  • Leads vendor/supplier selection and maintains key working relationships for raw materials, supplies and capital equipment.
  • Develop and execute purchasing strategies.
  • Negotiate with strategic suppliers/vendors for optimal terms.
  • Work with vendors to maintain and/or improve services.
  • Seek and partner with reliable vendors/suppliers.
  • Assess, manage and mitigate risks; perform cost and scenario analysis; identify cost saving opportunities.
  • Review standard pricing updates.
  • Establish and implement robust companywide purchasing procedures.
  • Develop and implement clear supplier KPIs.
  • Review purchase requests and ensure approval is in place for large spend items before discussions and negotiations commence.
  • Ensure formal contract and tendering process are in place to meet company and legal requirements.
  • Proactively seek out opportunities for the business to make immediate and longterm cost savings.
  • Develop a reliable base of suppliers who provide good value, competitive pricing and first class post sales service and support.
  • Review current supplier arrangements and take responsibility for identifying opportunities to consolidate or renegotiate terms.
  • Liaise with suppliers to understand market conditions and any potential impact these might have on pricing.
  • Ensure prices negotiated with suppliers are consistent and competitive.
  • Manage internal purchasing process and the placing of orders with external suppliers where appropriate.
  • Work closely with internal customers on all matters relating to new and existing contracts.
  • Work closely with the Heads of other Departments to ensure that cost initiative projects are completed.
  • Appropriately respond to the changing needs of the market while maintaining a profitable operation, control operational costs and identify measures to cut waste.
  • Meet budgetary objectives and make adjustments to project constraints based on financial analysis.
Skills and Competencies

  • Minimum of 4 proven work experience preferably in a similar environment with a diverse clientele background.
  • Solid knowledge of both basic and advanced Procurement, Accounting and Financial principles and practices and relevant standards.
  • Excellent mathematical abilities, computer skills (to handle electronic data) and business knowledge will be integral due to the breadth of financial information they will oversee.
  • Ability to analyse complex reports.
  • Organizational and leadership skills.
  • A problemsolver with attention to detail.
  • Strong at developing, maintaining and managing a relationship with suppliers, internal customers and other key stakeholders at all organizational levels to achieve business objectives.
  • Solid training background to ensure staff's competency and efficiency.
  • Good understanding of crosscultural / global issues.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Purchasing / Supply Chain / Stores Management or equivalent tertiary qualification.
  • Professional procurement qualification such as CIPS will be an added advantage.
  • Membership With Chartered Institute Of Purchasing and Supply.
Industry specific

  • Proven track record of property, real estate or construction procurement
  • Detailed understanding of building and industry terminology across all disciplines
  • Architecture, Interior Design, Construction project management, Quantity surveying company experience will be an advantage
