Lushomo helps partner organisations do good by communicating complex information in a simple, effective way. We work mainly with United Nations clients in the areas of health, environment, education and economic development.

Responsibilities:

  • Handson checking of materials for content accuracy (crosschecked against original text), design accuracy, and brand guideline adherence
  • Proofreading of content when necessary. For many products, we manipulate original source content to suit a visual communication product, and must therefore ensure that copy is errorfree, consistent and well written
  • We occasionally may also ask for help with writing, editing or synthesizing content or fact checking.
  • Direct line management of a project assistant, including training and delegating quality control tasks to the assistant and to freelancers
  • Developing and continually improving quality control processes, SOPs, checklists and other materials
  • Working within timeframes and time allocations dictated by project managers and inputting on QC components of project plans

Required skills/qualifications:

  • Exceptionally thorough and detailoriented
  • Excellent English writing and communication skills
  • Visual literacy: 13 years of experience producing or extensively interacting with diverse visual communication products, and an eye for design/layout
  • Scientific and numerical literacy: able to understand scientific content and read and interpret technical figures and graphs. A scientific background is an advantage.
  • Tech literacy: comfortable working online, in MS Office and Google Suite, with file management systems, and learning how to use new software and platforms.
  • Good communication and people management
  • Responsive, able to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously and adhere to tight deadlines and timeframes
  • A tertiary degree and interest in the areas of health, environment, education, economic development or another area related to our client work
  • Either the ability to work comfortably and productively at home on a fulltime basis without disruption, or ability to commute to our offices in Sea Point, Cape Town.
