The Strategic Fuel Fund Association (SFF), a subsidiary of the Central Energy Fund (CEF), manages crude oil storage facilities in the Western Cape, and environmental protection against oil pollution.

SFF currently seeks to employ a 3X FITTER IN TRAINING at OPC Saldanha, Cape Town.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and service machinery as required.
  • Keeping accurate record of all maintenance work done
  • Repairing malfunctioning machinery systems
  • Analyses the blueprints for mechanical systems and determine the specifications of the components to be constructed.
  • Constructing structural components from raw material
  • Using welding equipment to fuse structural components.
  • Inspecting fabricated components to ensure that they are the correct size.
  • Utilizing shears, power saws, cutting torches, and cheaper knives to cut structural components as needed.
- follow a suitable maintenance schedule and performing system maintenance accordingly

  • Conducting diagnostic testing on malfunctioning systems to determine the root cause of the Malfunctioning.
  • Replacing damaged or defective structural components as needed
  • Adhering to all safe work procedures rules and regulations
  • Exceptional welding and mechanical skills
  • Be able to work overtime and standby duties as and when required.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • NQ4 Level 4 Mechanical fitter
  • Valid trade test certificate
  • Red seal Qualification as fitter in maintenance Field
  • Repairing. maintaining and operating large pieces of machinery
  • Performing regular maintenance on machinery, diagnosing repairing any faults
  • Monitoring the fabrication process carefully and make safe adjustments.
  • Following set procedures and routines
  • Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills
  • Checking assembled metal parts for accuracy and fit using precise measuring tools.
  • Cutting, threading, bending, and fitting hydraulic and pneumatic lines and Pipes
  • Erecting and assembling machines onsite.
  • Grinding, cutting, and shaping metals and other raw material.
  • Sound knowledge of local and state building codes
  • Valid EB Driver's license
