Qualified Millwright Brakpan Gauteng

Salary: R35-45K Basic

Purpose of Position:

Complement Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Qualified Millwright position located in Brakpan, Gauteng, within the East Rand area of Johannesburg. The main responsibility of the millwright in this role is to maintain and repair plant and equipment to ensure optimal plant efficiency and adherence to safety standards and engineering specifications. In addition to a basic salary, the role offers a range of benefits.

Minimum Requirements Qualifications And Skills

Minimum Qualification / Experience Required:

Millwright Trade Test Certificate (Mechanical & Electrical)

At least 5 years of experience as a qualified Artisan, specializing in maintenance within an Electronic Engineering setting

  • Ability to work extended hours in a demanding manufacturing environment
  • Experience in a Factory/Plant environment, specifically in the FMCG sector
  • Proficiency in Programming and Fault Finding

Knowledge of Safety Regulations and Rules

  • Proficiency in Computer Literacy

Experience in SAP spares ordering

Strong Mechanical and Electrical skills

Familiarity with PLC systems

Hands-on work approach with a strong commitment to product quality

Effective cost control and organizational skills

Key Responsibilities:

Create and maintain a safe and healthy work environment

Ensure asset availability meets agreed-upon KPIs

Manage assets for optimal equipment performance

Financial oversight of maintenance budgets

Request, update, and verify consumable and critical spares

Perform daily line inspections and repairs

Conduct PRAGMA inspections, adhoc, breakdowns, and preventative maintenance

Plan and execute shutdown activities

Ensure safety compliance and serve as a safety custodian

Allocate resources for shutdowns

Participate in standby duties and call-outs

Maintain high standards of cleanliness and OHS Act compliance

Meet and exceed set KPIs

Focus on waste reduction and elimination

Train maintenance team and process controllers

Engage in rebuild and continuous improvement projects

Report unsafe acts and conditions

Ensure adherence to process control standards

Maintain and repair production machines and electronic control gear

  • Quickly respond to breakdowns

Diagnose, fault find, and repair equipment failures to minimize downtime

Dismantle, detect faults, and repair equipment

Propose equipment modifications for enhanced performance and safety

  • Manage Job Card information and conduct checks

Actively contribute to developing and maintaining a Preventative Maintenance System

Further essential responsibilities:

Ensure test equipment is well maintained

Execute shift work as per schedule

Adhere to planned maintenance schedules

Verify and update drawings accurately

Participate in training programs as needed

Provide coverage for other artisans when needed

Install electrical and mechanical equipment

Collaborate with production and engineering staff as necessary

Coach operators on best practices and maintenance tasks

Offer suggestions for operational improvements

Contribute to plant and shift teams

Report unsafe conditions to management

Ensure proper shift handovers and compliance with environmental policies

Prioritize workplace cleanliness and investigation of incidents

Understand and adhere to SHEQ requirements

Attend to breakdowns in Electrical, Mechanical, and Instrumentation areas

Identify faults in Electrical, Mechanical, PLCs, etc.

Read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematic drawings

Adhere to Isolation and Lock-out procedures

Work with various systems including Hydraulics, Pneumatics, etc.

Skilled in handling Overhead cranes, electro-pneumatic systems, basic instrumentation, and auto electrical equipment
