Procurement Leader - Durban Kwazulu Natal

Salary:
R850k Per Annum

Purpose of Position:

Complement Recruitment are recruiting for a Procurement Leader for a permanent position in Bluff, eThekwini, Durban, Kwazulu Natal.

To manage the procurement of all raw materials, packaging and consumables for the business, ensuring full availability to meet customer requirements whilst minimising costs and working capital, in line with companies' financial and strategic objectives.

The Role reports to the Supply Chain & Operations Manager.

Minimum Requirements:

  • BCom Supply Chain / Procurement Management Degree or Commercial Degree (B.Com.)
  • Registration or Accreditation with a Professional Procurement Management body an advantage
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in Procurement
  • Must have demonstrated experience in managing teams
  • Procurement experience in a Manufacturing / Production international environment beneficial
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic procurement processes
  • Commodity procurement will be advantageous
  • Computer Literacy and Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Good interpersonal, communication (written and verbal) and reporting
  • Strong team work ethic
  • Operate effectively under pressure, able to manage multiple and changing priorities.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to lead and have proven experience in it
  • Proficient in systems, E1 or equivalent
  • Extensive experience in Strategic procurement processes

Duties:

  • Responsible for the development, management and communication of a robust procurement and purchasing strategy, which identifies strategic suppliers and delivers sustainable competitive advantage.
  • Develop, maintain and execute a continuous improvement plan for purchasing which minimises stock holding, redundancy, wastage, costs and out of stocks, consistent with the business strategy.
  • Work with the Sales, Operations and Technical teams to deliver industry leading innovation development, securing sustainable and competitive supply of raw materials.
  • Lead the development and use of purchasing key performance indicators and variance analysis routines.
  • Develop, implement and manage strategic tender processes to optimise value for the company.
  • Ensure material stocks are proactively managed within targeted working capital levels, reducing waste and write offs.
  • Develop and manage supplier audit strategy ensuring on boarding of new suppliers is within legislation.
  • Proactive supplier management ensuring supplier's performance and contractor assurance KPI's are met.
  • Ensure all materials purchased, including new, meet the business specifications and compliance needs.
  • Manage & develop logístical provision and 3rd party storage for optimum performance/cost
  • Champion the development and use of E1 management system.
  • Communicate effectively with internal departments regarding procurement & supply.

Team Management

  • Management of direct reports to ensure the department is working efficiently and effectively.
  • Improve performance results of the department and the development of the team through all aspects of the employee life cycle: recruitment, induction, appraisals, goal and objective setting, 1:1s, personal development planning, training, coaching and attendance management.
  • Ensure the Procurement team engages & communicates productively with all business functions/sites.
  • Coach/develop purchasing team in negotiations of purchasing contracts & once off purchases
  • Coach the procurement team in effective stock management.

Finance

  • Operate effectively within agreed budget constraints and formal Limits of Authority.

General

  • Promote and adhere to the Company's core values
  • Contribute to and engage in continuous improvement and initiatives.
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in line with 6S practices.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety, Quality, Environmental and PPE policies and procedures recognising a personal 'Duty of Care' to themselves, their colleagues and wider environment.
  • Ensure high quality standards are maintained, adhere to the Company vision and standards and operate in a safe and ethical manner at all times.
  • Undertake any other tasks and duties as required by the Company
