Purpose of the Job

  • Maintain uptime of JDJ computer, telephone and Network infrastructure.
  • Look at system inefficiencies and recommend solutions
  • Lower cost of running existing system
  • Understand infrastructure and optimise
  • Responsible for all branches hardware
  • Facilitate transport of hardware to main lab and from Main Lab to Branch
  • Maintain relationship with suppliers
  • Create Site specific SOP concerning IT queries.
  • Create IT Policy

Key Performance Areas

  • Map out existing infrastructure
  • Evaluate existing hardware
  • Create a maintenance plan on existing hardware
  • Create a budget for planned maintenance and replacement of ageing infrastructure
  • Migrate phone system from Telkom to VOIP system
  • Change printing from local printers to Network printers
  • Liase with Service providers and assess service levels we receiving
  • Manage our exchange server
  • Create new Users and removal of unused accounts
  • Ensure all our cabling in our server cabinets are neat and labelled
  • Ensure all computer cables are neat and tidy
  • Schedule maintenance across all branches
  • Repairs to hardware and Software returned in a timeous fashion to include but not limited to,
  • Travel when required to our branches to assess and effect repairs.

  • Individual must be a people person
  • Technical asset register for all company sites
  • Support the daytoday needs of the business by providing data analysis, project deliverables and operational needs to achieve strategic objectives.

  • Good working knowledge of computer industry, not less than 5 years
  • Must be able to communicate well and have good decisionmaking skills.

  • Must be able to work both independently as well as in a team
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines within available time frames.

Educational requirements and experience

  • Grade 1
  • Good computer skills
  • Microsoft Office
  • Must have valid code 08 drivers licence
  • A+ and N+
  • Working knowledge of VOIP systems
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Exchange
