Transport Operations Controller

Our client is in search of a skilled Transport Operations Controller. The perfect candidate will shine in delivering exceptional customer service with a welcoming and enthusiastic attitude. As the Operations Controller, you'll be the main point of contact for client requests, container collections, and deliveries. Effective communication and organizational abilities are crucial for success in this position.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Operations:

  • Receive transport orders from customers and ensure thorough information gathering.
  • Assist in creating weekly delivery plans based on client needs.
  • Coordinate container deliveries to clients' depots/warehouses.
  • Ensure prompt deliveries and collections of clients' containers.
  • Provide third-party transporters with Delivery Release Orders (DROs) for outsourcing.
  • Manage TPT Port bookings for container collection and monitor Navis system regularly for availability.
  • Identify carrier depots for empty container turn-ins as per DROs.
  • Assign free days to customers and oversee timely turn-ins within the allocated period.

Drogon (Internal Container Tracking System):

  • Assign DRO packs to drivers based on container specifications when vessels begin operations.
  • Hand over driver documentation pack (Customer DRO, empty turn-in, and Customer POD) for port and customer acknowledgment.
  • Send allocation, collection, and urgent instructions to drivers through the Drogon system for prompt action.

Communication (Feedback and Follow-Ups):

  • Provide consistent updates to clients regarding vessel and container ETA.
  • Follow up on vessel and container statuses.
  • Promptly and accurately address escalated issues.
  • Maintain a professional and efficient customer service approach consistently.

Requirements:

  • Matric or equivalent - mandatory
  • 1-2 years of experience in a similar role and industry - mandatory
  • Familiarity with an ERP or transport industry system - advantageous
  • Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel - advantageous
