This position can be based in Cape Town, South Africa; Yarmouth, MA or Washington, DC Staff work a hybrid schedule with 2 days/week in the office The Program Manager role is primarily focused on the implementation of the Live Animals Seized in Trade (LAST) projects which aim to improve governments' capacity to interdict illegal wildlife and handle confiscated live animals, such that their welfare and evidentiary value are both maintained.

Reporting to the Program Director, the Program Manager will work with Project Officers, and partners to ensure the successful delivery of project outcomes.

Core project activities include but are not limited to conducting needs assessments, supporting capacity building initiatives (training, guidance, networks) and advising on policy goals.

The Manager will drive the development of the LAST strategy within IFAW and seek to grow the portfolio of work through new projects and new funding opportunities.

In addition, the Manager is an essential part of the global Wildlife Rescue team.

The Manager will assist the Wildlife Rescue Director in management, oversight, monitoring, and evaluation of other global wildlife rescue projects, working directly with partner organizations and grantees to promote the implementation of shared goals and best practices.

They will support the Director in the development of new projects to achieve IFAW's strategic goals. Specific duties include a range of activities from administrative, project management and oversight to field-based wildlife rescue efforts.
Role and Responsibilities Live Animals Seized in Trade portfolio:

Serve as Project manager for assigned LAST projects, overseeing proposal development, project operations, budget management, monitoring, evaluation and learning, and reporting.

Foster engagement of relevant global stakeholders in the fields of law enforcement, wildlife management and animal health and welfare, including from private sector and scientific institutions.

Provide Project Management to certain projects within the WR Program area with oversight of implementation, budgeting, and engagement with internal and external stakeholders;In collaboration with project teams and contractors, ensure the planning, management, monitoring and timely reporting of assigned projects;Monitor and track budgets in assigned projects.

Provide reports and other analyses to support Projects within the portfolio, Departmental Leads, and Partners with their supervision of projects implementation, expenditure and compliance;Compile, manage processing, and delivery of quarterly reports and once-off grants to partners, reviewing amendments to Grant Agreements, budgets, and relevant trackers, ensuring that costs are checked against budgets and are in compliance with both internal and/or restricted funding needs;Assist in managing administrative needs for the Wildlife Rescue Program, with travel to the field project sites to obtain status reports and documentation as necessary.

Liaise with external, project and institutional stakeholders related to Program activities and/or funding requests.
Work closely with country office and Programs staff to ensure smooth operation of Wildlife Rescue and cross-programmatic projects.

Support IFAW institutional goals, including philanthropic and communication goals, through integration with all HQ departments; Support both Communications and Development in providing assets that promote both the Organisation and Wildlife Rescue Program.

Support IFAW Development Department by providing project information for fundraising efforts. Support Program Director and Development team in compiling restricted funding or foundation proposals.

Provide further relevant operational support as and when necessary, to the Wildlife Rescue Program and other IFAW departments;.Qualifications and Education Requirements Bachelor's degree in biology, conservation, zoology or a related field preferred;At least 5 years of professional experience in the field of wildlife conservation, and/or animal welfare.

Field experience in the area of wildlife rescue and care of captive wildlife is a plus;Possess strong knowledge of the nexus between wildlife conservation, and animal welfare, including policies and key actors acting to combat wildlife crime;Preferable experience in Planning, Monitoring Evaluation and Learning methodologies or experience in Monitoring and Evaluation with data collection and management;Experience in budget management, tracking and reporting; experience with government or intergovernmental agency grant management a plus;Proven ability to facilitate and coordinate multi-stakeholder processes and maintain constructive contact with stakeholders in the field of wildlife conservation and/or animal welfare;Excellent oral and written communications and problem solving ability;Ability to work as part of a team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment;Proven ability to communicate constructively with project teams, partners and funders and fulfill their reporting requirements;Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact harmoniously and communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, both internal and external to IFAW, including government officials, scientists, colleagues and the public;Ability to work under pressure, handling multiple tasks and be well organized;English language skills required with preference given to additional languages.

Experience with Microsoft Office.
Detailed orientated with a strong ethic in ensuring timelines and commitments are met.
