Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree in Safety, Security and / or Environment, or related
  • Minimum 3 years experience in defining and managing Security compliance systems.
  • Minimum 5 years in a management position.
  • Security in a warehousing environment an advantage.
  • Extensive experience in preventing illegal activity and performing access control.
  • Indepth knowledge of security procedures and surveillance equipment.
  • Knowledge of security industry regulations.
  • Superb leadership and organisational abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong decisionmaking ability.
  • High levels of professionalism, integrity and confidentiality.
  • Meticulous about meeting standards and customer expectations.
  • Working knowledge of relevant South African legislation, applicable SANS codes, best practice guidelines and corporate governance.

Responsibilities:

Security:

  • Oversee asset protection of both people and staff as well as prevent theft and inventory/ stock loss.
  • Analyse and evaluate security operations to identify risks or opportunities for improvement
  • Supervise, recruit and appoint a Security Company
  • Train staff in security rules and procedures
  • Set and manage budgets for security operations
  • Keep abreast of changes in executive legislative directives or new technologies impacting security operation
  • Assist in emergency management and contingency planning
  • Prepare reports on internal investigations, losses, or violations of regulations, policies and procedures
  • Communicate security status, updates, and actual or potential problems, using new and established protocols
  • Participate in site investigations and report on findings
  • Develop work schedules, allocate tasks and monitor staff performance

Procedures and Processes:

  • Create and implement security standards, policies, and procedures
  • Write and review securityrelated documents, such as incident reports, proposals, and tactical or strategic initiative
  • Respond to medical emergencies, bomb threats, fire alarms, or intrusion alarms, following emergency response procedures
  • Recommend security procedures for access control
  • Identify, investigate, or resolve security breaches and coordinate appropriate response
  • Monitor and manage security policies, programs or procedures to ensure compliance with internal security policies, licensing requirements, or applicable government security requirements, policies, and directives
  • Conduct physical examinations of property to ensure compliance with security policies and regulations
  • Conduct random stock counts at all warehousing sites
  • Ensure compliance to all covid protocols and ensure strict protocol for entry procedures at all sites

Maintenance:

  • Prepare surveillance equipment maintenance schedules and facilitate repairs in a timely manner
  • Conduct routine siteinvestigations and report on any machinery, equipment, building systems and structures that require maintenance/ repairs
  • Provide warehouse managers with the report feedback regarding siteinvestigations and ensure that they take the necessary actions to request quotations and schedule required maintenance/ repairs and installations as per the report
  • Assist warehouse managers in creating and implementing maintenance procedures
  • Follow up with warehouse managers on general maintenance requirements
  • Analyse and track costings and expenses on maintenance, installations and repairs
  • Ensure documentation is in order for audit requirements

Procurement and Operations:

  • Assist warehouse managers in the procurement of siterequired items
  • Order securityrelated supplies and equipment

General:

  • Mentor, coach and develop employees by building individual and team competencies to meet set goals and objectives
  • Ensure that team and individual performance objectives are in place, aligned with the companys strategic objectives and that quarterly performance reviews done
  • Remain uptodate with security advancements and technologies regarding security services
