Position Overview:


The CCTV Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems within an organization.

This role involves managing a team of CCTV operators, ensuring the effective functioning of the CCTV infrastructure, and coordinating with other departments to maintain a secure and safe environment.


Key Responsibilities:

Team Management:

  • Lead and manage a team of CCTV operators, assigning tasks, providing guidance, and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Train new operators on CCTV system operations, protocols, and standard operating procedures.
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment, encouraging teamwork, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Monitoring and Surveillance:

  • Monitor live CCTV feeds and recorded footage to identify and respond to security incidents, violations, or suspicious activities promptly.
  • Coordinate with security personnel and other relevant departments to ensure appropriate actions are taken based on surveillance findings.
  • Maintain accurate records of incidents, actions taken, and any evidence gathered for potential investigations.

Security Policies and procedures:

  • Develop and enforce CCTV system policies, protocols, and operating procedures to ensure compliance with legal requirements and organizational standards.
  • Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices related to CCTV surveillance and security measures.
  • Conduct periodic audits and assessments of CCTV systems to identify vulnerabilities and recommend security enhancements.

Collaborative Communication:

  • Liaise with law enforcement agencies, emergency services, and other external stakeholders as required for incident reporting, evidence sharing, and coordination.
  • Provide regular reports, statistics, and updates to management regarding the performance and effectiveness of the CCTV system

Qualifications and Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in security or surveillancerelated fields are a plus.
  • Proven experience in operating and maintaining CCTV systems, preferably in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
  • Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and privacy considerations related to CCTV surveillance.( POPI Act)
  • Excellent observation and analytical skills to detect and assess security threats or irregularities.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities, with a focus on collaboration and employee development.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with internal and external stakeholders at various levels.
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask in a fastpaced environment.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to work in monitoring rooms for extended periods.
  • Flexibility to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays if required.
