Job Description

Technology Strategy:

  • Developing and executing a comprehensive technology strategy aligned with business objectives for Publicis Groupe Africa.
  • Identifying emerging technologies and trends to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge in the African market.
  • Working closely with executive leadership to prioritize technology investments and initiatives.
  • Establishing tech vendor relationships (including media owners like Meta, Google, Tik Tok, and technologies like Adobe, Salesforce, Microsoft, etc.) to provide exclusive and forward-thinking solutions to local and regional clients.
  • Responding to local and regional pitch RFI and RFPs, as well as client requests involving Data and Technology in a client-facing capacity.

Team Leadership:

  • Leading and mentoring a high-performing technology community across the group in the agencies, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement across South Africa and Africa.
  • Becoming the go-to technical expert in the group, driving a culture of technology and innovation.
  • Providing guidance and direction to staff, ensuring their alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Setting clear goals and performance metrics for the Groupe to enhance accountability and excellence.
  • Collaborating with the finance and operational teams to support projects.
  • Defining a structured approach required within budget constraints to successfully deliver projects.

Project Delivery & Management:

  • Overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of technology projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Managing the planning, execution, and delivery of key client projects to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Defining project scopes, objectives, and success criteria, and monitoring progress for successful results.
  • Serving as a key stakeholder in major technology initiatives, such as Live Dashboarding Platform implementation and Automation/AI projects.

Infrastructure and Operations:

  • Collaborating with Re:Sources and GSO.
  • Developing strong relationships with key Re:Sources leads.
  • Evaluating and optimizing IT infrastructure to support scalability, security, and performance requirements in South Africa and Africa.
  • Implementing best practices for IT operations, including incident management, disaster recovery, and cybersecurity.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Innovation and Research:

  • Partnering with the HOO to nurture an innovative culture within the organization, promoting experimentation and exploration of new technologies across South Africa and Africa.
  • Conducting research and evaluating emerging technologies for potential business and industry impact.
  • Identifying strategic partnership, acquisition, or investment opportunities to enhance technology capabilities in the African market.

Security Risk Assessments:

  • Conducting regular security risk assessments to pinpoint vulnerabilities and potential threats to the organization's technology infrastructure.
  • Developing and executing strategies to mitigate security risks, ensuring data and system integrity, confidentiality, and availability.
  • Collaborating with internal teams and external partners to establish and uphold robust cybersecurity protocols and defenses.

Cost Wastage Identification:

  • Analyzing technology expenditure and operational costs to identify inefficiencies and potential cost-saving opportunities.
  • Devising strategies to optimize resource allocation, streamline processes, and reduce unnecessary expenses while maintaining service quality.
  • Implementing cost-saving initiatives, like cloud migration, automation, or renegotiation of vendor contracts, to maximize technology investments' value and enhance financial performance.
