The Market Risk Technology Team Lead at Absa CIB will oversee the Front Arena-based market risk technologies, ensuring seamless operations in real-time and batch processing for various risk management functions. The role involves leading a team responsible for the end-to-end support of the Value at Risk (VaR), FRTB Standardized Approach (SA), and PL Explain (PLE) components, in line with regulatory requirements and business needs.

A unique blend of technical prowess, functional understanding, and leadership skills to support and advance the market risk infrastructure and contribute to the bank's strategic initiatives is required.

**Job Description**:
Key Responsibilities:

- Manage and lead the technology team responsible for the market risk solutions within Front Arena, focusing on valuation logic, risk, and PLE-specific code base customizations.
- Oversee integrations and data usage from external systems (e.g. market data, BMH feed, RFS) into Front Arena and ensure the alignment with source systems.
- Spearhead performance debugging and optimization, load balancing, and backend automation using Azure DevOps, Linux, and Windows.
- Maintain and enhance the Adaptiv Analytics customizations and support the technical infrastructure.
- Provide technical and functional support to the market risk analysts, front office, and product control functions, facilitating effective communication and timely issue resolution.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory changes in the market risk capital framework and implement necessary technical adjustments.
- Champion future project initiatives, such as automation for user self-service and data quality frameworks.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

- 8-10+ years’ experience.
- Experience & proven track record defining enterprise wide technical strategies single / limited product / Service environment.
- Experience as an agile practitioner and knowledge or experience of other delivery methodologies e.g. Kanban, RUP etc.
- Excellent communication, analytical skills and decision making ability in collaborative environments.
- Expertise in technical aspects of market risk solutions, especially within Front Arena, including ADFL and Python customizations.
- Proficiency in.NET, Angular, Postgres, and understanding of Adaptiv Analytics.
- Strong background in performance debugging, optimization, and backend load balancing.
- Skilled in Azure DevOps, Linux, and Windows backend automation, with ability to develop and parameterize Azure Pipelines.
- Proficient in functional aspects of market risk and valuation, with the ability to understand and communicate quantitative bottlenecks and data-driven risk systems.
- Experience in leading and supporting a technology team, with an affinity for risk and valuation numbers.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage complex technical projects.
- Strong communication skills, capable of articulating risk topics to various stakeholders in both technical and functional terms.

Team Composition: The team should consist of a mix of developers and analysts with diverse skills in both technical and functional aspects of market risk management. The team size and structure should be designed to handle daily operations, support the technical estate, and drive future innovations in market risk data utilization.

Location: Absa CIB Offices at Alice Lane Sandton, with the possibility of remote work arrangements as per company policy.
