_About the job_


As a System Administrator with expertise in Milestone XProtect and CCTV, you will play a critical role in managing and maintaining our video infrastructure.

Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the smooth operation, stability, and security of Milestone XProtect VMS systems and associated CCTV components.

You will collaborate closely with our internal teams and external clients to deliver exceptional solutions that meet their unique security requirements.


Responsibilities

  • Ensure video management systems are performing optimally with tasks including but not limited to:
  • Install, configure, and maintain Milestone XProtect VMS software and related components.
  • Perform regular updates, patches, and upgrades to ensure optimal system performance and security.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the Milestone XProtect environment and other Video management systems.
  • Monitor system logs and performance metrics to proactively identify potential problems.
  • Ensure there is sufficient capacity for growth as required by the business.
  • Analyze and optimize current usage of Video Management Systems, create plans to ensure ongoing continual service improvement.
  • Make recommendations to both internal and external stakeholders on how Video Management Systems can be used and optimized.

System Integration:
_

  • Integrate CCTV cameras, encoders, and other relevant devices with Milestone XProtect VMS.
  • Ensure seamless functionality and compatibility between various CCTV components.
  • Collaborate with vendors and partners to implement new CCTV technologies and upgrades.

_Security and Access Control_

  • Implement robust security measures for Milestone XProtect and CCTV systems.
  • Configure user access controls and permissions to safeguard critical data.
  • Monitor and analyze system logs for potential security breaches and anomalies.

_Client Support and Training_

  • Provide technical support to clients, addressing their inquiries and resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • Conduct training sessions for clients and internal staff to enhance their understanding of Milestone XProtect and CCTV systems.

_Documentation and Reporting_

  • Maintain accurate and uptodate documentation of system configurations and changes.
  • Generate regular reports on system performance, incidents, and improvements.
  • Evaluate current VMS products vs competition and make recommendations regarding future product strategy.
  • Assist the Datacentre Administrator with optimization of server infrastructure for processing of Video.
  • Keep up to date with the latest trends in Video Analytics technology.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve VMS issues end to end, from camera, to network, server and software.
  • Create job aids for other stakeholders as required (such as troubleshooting checklists, implementation flows etc.)
  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure

Qualifications & Experience

  • Completed Grade 1
  • Degree/ Diploma in Information Technology would be advantageous.
  • Video Management System vendor certifications. Preferably Milestone Certified Integration Engineer (MCIE)
  • Minimum Microsoft MCSE or equivalent certification with Microsoft SQL Server
  • 5 + Years' experience in an IT Role
  • 5 + Years' Experience with Microsoft Windows Server.
  • 3 + Years' Experience with Microsoft SQL Server Administration.
  • 3 + Years' Experience with PowerShell Scripting.
  • 3 + Years' Experience with Linux Server (preferably Ubuntu) system administration
  • A working knowledge of server and storage hardware.
  • Solid understanding of network protocols and configurations relevant to video surveillance systems.
  • 5+ Years' Experience with Milestone Video Management systems
  • 5 + Years' Experience with IP Video Surveillance cameras. (Mainly Axis, Hikvision and Dahua)
  • 5 + Years' experience with administration of video analytics systems, preferably iSentry
  • Experience with other Video Management systems would be advantageous.
  • Experience in integrating thirdparty systems with Milestone XProtect would be advantageous.
