Purchasing Manager

Job duties and responsibilities

  • To head a team of 2 buyers and 1 planner
  • Plan and implement sourcing and purchasing strategies
  • Work with suppliers, manufacturers and internal departments / stores
  • Maintain a database of approved suppliers and build on new suppliers
  • Reviews purchases and purchase orders
  • Negotiate lower pricing and specials
  • Schedules deliveries and ensures timely fulfilment of orders.
  • Keeps up with trends in procurement and schedule supplier visits in house.
  • Stays current with purchasing technology trends and oversees purchase and implementation, as necessary.
  • Search and source potential suppliers and vendors
  • Track, measure and analyse company expenditures
  • Oversee the recruitment, hiring and training of new staff
  • Determine and track KPIs
  • Provide reports for Senior management and product presentations.

Job requirements and qualifications

  • Previous working experience in Purchasing Management for 5 yrs
  • Business Administration, Logistics, or similar relevant field
  • Handson experience in budgeting and purchasing management
  • Superb communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Be able to advise the Marketing / Operations team on products for promotions
  • Outstanding negotiation skills / customer service skills
  • Problem solver with a strong analytical mindset
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills

Salary:
From R10,000.00 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Durban, KwaZulu-Natal: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
