Roles and responsibilities shall include, but not to be treated as an exhaustive list:

1.

Manage and control the Companys costs to achieve/exceed budget:

  • All expenses to be managed within approved budgets and all exceptions adequately explained
  • Review all CAPEX expenditure requests prior to approval, ensuring completion of requisite financial analysis for those needing Managing Director approval
  • Responsible for overseeing the sign off on all files prior to invoicing to ensure accuracy as per authorisation and relevant contract/Service Level Agreement (SLA)

2. Ensure bank balances are corrected to agreed upon levels through cash control

  • Ensure cash account are adequately controlled and kept to a minimum / ensure that cash accounts are kept zero
  • Ensure debtors of 60 days and older do not exceed management's stipulated value
  • Ensure creditors payments are done timeously and all discounts are taken

3. Establish internal controls to deliver efficient processes and systems
3.1.

Month end procedures:

  • Analyse income statement timeously report on discrepancies and/or deviations
  • Analysis of month end accounts and adjustment journals report on discrepancies and/or deviations
  • Oversee invoicing against targets, submissions, collections, and adherence to Companys invoicing rules
3.2.

Balance sheet recons, WIP and Creditors:

  • Clear WIP monthly and ensure WIP older than 60 days not to exceed management's stipulated value
  • Outstanding items on the creditors recon to be mínimal
  • Ensure that all RFCs and invoices are captured daily and stock returned to suppliers for credit notes to be issued
  • Ensure creditors department clear creditors recon items monthly
3.3.

Payroll sign off:
Approve all salaries/wages by the requisite deadline given

4. Ensure Company governance and compliance standards are always met

  • Ensure that all payments requested are made to approved suppliers and proper backup documents are presented
  • Ensure that all capital expenditure is as per the Company policy and procedure
  • Implement stringent and constant monitoring of internal control processes to eliminate theft and fraud

Desired experience and qualifications include, namely:

  • 10+ years experience in a finance function
  • Must have prior operational exposure in a business with at least 10+ years' experience
  • A high level of business awareness and acumen
  • Understanding the intricacies of financial management and general management
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
  • Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills
  • Thorough understanding of deadlines and the importance of adhering to these
  • Matric qualification is a requirement
  • Tertiary qualification i.e., bachelors degree in financial management and/or related field experience would be beneficial
  • Must be able to work independently and be very self sufficient
  • Must have integrity
  • Must be very meticulous by nature
  • Highly effective work ethic
