Purpose of the Job:


To implement, maintain, administer and support the Microsoft Products, technologies and related Software (components) products and provide technical support and leadership on Microsoft products including establishing technical architecture, design, standards and requirements, evaluating and directing enhancements, and implementing solutions for performance monitoring, data protection and systems configuration, design and implementation.

What you'll have done before:

Baseline:

  • NQF level 7 (Bachelors' Degree in IT)
  • 5+ years in a technical specialist field
  • Indepth knowledge of one or more of the Microsoft products that are supported at Engen
  • 1+ year exposure to working in a project environment
  • 4+ years' experience in managing Microsoft Systems Management Suite (Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager)

What You'll be doing:

  • Investigate and contribute to technology roadmaps for enhancing IT capabilities at Engen.
  • Engage with vendors and industry experts to leverage product capabilities effectively.
  • Share knowledge internally to unlock opportunities.
  • Designing and implementing an optimal configuration to maximize system reliability, performance, and availability
  • Adopting a structured approach to minimise risk
  • Participating in the planning and implementation of system upgrades.
  • Completing operational project deliverables on time, in budget, to the client's satisfaction and within quality parameters
  • Configure and deploy system policies aligned with Engen's security and data protection standards.
  • Manage maintenance patches and upgrades systematically across systems.
  • Implement securityrelated patches and configuration changes to reduce system vulnerabilities.
  • Perform regular system and data backups.
  • Test recovery procedures to minimize data loss and meet organizational recovery objectives.
  • Resolve incidents and problems promptly.
  • Follow best practices in architecture, design, and configuration during investigations and resolutions.
  • Evaluate the technical feasibility and suitability of proposed alternative solutions.
  • Assess the relevance and suitability of recommendations from Microsoft or vulnerability assessments for Engen Operations.
