Assistant Restaurant Manager

Key Responsibilities:

Wine Knowledge:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of wine varietals, wine regions, and wine pairings.
  • Assist guests in selecting wines that complement their meals and provide wine recommendations.
  • Contribute to wine education for the staff and engage in wine training sessions.

Service Excellence:

  • Ensure a high standard of customer service by leading and motivating the frontofhouse team.
  • Oversee daily operations, ensuring smooth service during busy periods.
  • Resolve customer complaints and issues promptly, ensuring guest satisfaction.

Staff Supervision:

  • Train, mentor, and supervise restaurant staff in delivering topquality service.
  • Create and maintain a positive work environment, fostering teamwork and staff development.
  • Conduct staff meetings and ensure adherence to restaurant policies and procedures.

Menu Knowledge:

  • Stay updated on the restaurant's menu offerings, including ingredient sourcing and preparation techniques.
  • Assist with menu development and promotions, working closely with the head chef.

Financial Management:

  • Assist in inventory control and ordering of supplies, including wine inventory management.
  • Monitor and manage budgetary goals, including cost control and revenue growth.
  • Prepare and review financial reports and sales data.

Health and Safety:

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Implement and enforce sanitation and food safety standards in line with industry best practices.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a restaurant management role, preferably in a similar upscale dining establishment.
  • Strong knowledge and passion for wine.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven leadership and teambuilding abilities.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and weekends.
  • Only day shifts unless an event is booked.
  • Knowledge of restaurant software and pointofsale systems Ikentoo & Dineplan is a plus.
