Job Description:

  • You will be responsible for ensuring that the plant process operates effectively in order to produce the quality and quantity of metals planned, with a time frame of 12 years accountability. Coordinates labour, equipment and services as required for the role.
  • Assist Production Manager to develop annual budget for plant sections
  • Ensure that plant section operates in a sustainable manner.
  • Develop and maintain site specific standards, codes of practices, systems and procedures in accordance with guidelines and the Act.
  • Identify key performance shortfalls and gaps, and critical improvement areas
  • Manage performance of direct production staff.
  • Take corrective action to deliver daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly targets.
  • Ensure availability and allocate production resources (people, materials and money) across all shifts.
  • Tactical plans for implementation of plant goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with the technical team to optimise the plant.

This role is in the Processing Division on a Band 6 level and will report to the Production Manager.

  • Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science with Honours in a relevant discipline (Chemistry, Metallurgy and/or Chemical Engineering).
  • Management Development Programme or similar qualification will be advantageous.

Experience, knowledge and skills:

  • At least five years post graduate qualification experience relevant for the role
  • Computer skills for role including Business systems e.g. SAP
  • Good technical understanding
  • Advanced computer literacy
  • You will be required to undergo a medical fitness examination (Certificate of Fitness ERT)
