Job Description:

  • As the Engineering Specialist production, you are expected to effectively execute and monitor the operations asset management program, audits, compliance, and continuous improvement diagnostics. Your responsibilities will also include assessing key maintenance functions as well as recommending improvements to the maintenance process from audit finding.

The responsibilities for the role:

  • Visit sites and equipment locations on the plant and undertake equipment audits and inspections in respect to engineering workmanship, quality and compliance with engineering policies, procedures and standards.
  • Provide technical assistance and direction to other functional groups in order to drive quality improvements and enhance the maintenance function.
  • Assess equipment criticality and performance trends analysis to assure systemic problems are identified and make the necessary decisions or changes to current maintenance practices to remedy and fix the problems arising.
  • Liaises with planners to ensure inspection and audit findings are scheduled for remediation in accordance with the established priorities.
  • Undertake to plan and maintain the critical spares and sub assembly register for all mechanical related apparatus for the mining area.
  • Continuously reviews equipment task lists in the ERP
  • SAP system in light of maintenance improvements, equipment developments and modifications.
  • Conducts RCM exercises for all new equipment before commissioning establishing the maintenance strategies and task lists to be adopted.
  • Select, train, motivate, and develop a highly technical staff with expertise in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive and conditionbased maintenance systems.
  • Ensures that a material management strategy is in place.
  • Ensures compliance to OHSA / MHSA, and domestic requirements in all maintenance facilities provided.
  • Assist in the management of Engineering teams to ensure compliance and delivery of departmental requirements and KPI's.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Minimum N4 certificate, preferably N6 certificate.
  • Relevant Trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering
  • AAP law and standards Certificate

Knowledge Specific to role:

  • Conversant with MHSA and the OHSA acts
  • Demonstrated skill in managing people and resources
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Working knowledge of client disciplines
  • Mining, Engineering
  • Maintenance work management knowledge and experience

Experience:

  • Extensive experience in the maintenance of mechanical equipment as related to processing plant equipment within the mining environment
  • 10 years post trade relevant mechanical experience
  • Project management experience
  • Defect elimination knowledge and experience
  • Condition monitoring knowledge and experience
  • Warranty management knowledge and experience
  • Total fluids management knowledge and experience
