Role Purpose:

  • Supervise, coordinate and process Retail Operations Group related Finance support activities, including risk mitigation processes, management and review of Opex & Capex financial performance of ROPs Business Unit, reconciliation of purchase orders, receipting and payments via EVO/SAP, as well as support in the complete preparation and expense monitoring of budget, reporting, debtors aging review, stock take review and provision of reports to management.
  • Compilation and submission of journals and provisions at month end and year end to ensure accuracy and completeness of accounting entries.
  • Development of reports to enhance oversight and transparency of operating activity to enhance performance and mitigate risks.
  • Revenue Assurance, Stock take review and periodic Asset verification reviews for ROPs Business Unit.
  • Compilation, distribution and presentation of Profit & Loss statement and Balance Sheet of ROPs Business Unit.
  • Management of OPEX and CAPEX spend against targets.
  • Design and development of processes and controls to better monitor performance and enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Compilation of monthly and annual Turnover declarations ensuring auditors are submitted with required documentation and calculations.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure implementation and management of financial aspects of ROPs Business Unit banking and stock processes, including assisting management with the correct use of processes and systems.
  • Interact with Finance and ensure correct treatment and implementation of Finance processes and policies
  • Support the Retail Operations Group in terms of financial requirements and relevant advice.
  • Compile and/or review daily, weekly, monthly reports, including ROPs Business Unit Profit & Loss statement and Balance sheet.
  • Review and spot check ROPs Business Unit stock takes and asset verifications.
  • Compile and distribute ROPs Business Unit debtor aged analysis.
  • Issue statistics and input for management reports
  • Offer Finance support on identified projects (Scope of work and deadlines)
  • Assist with the Finance aspects of capability or project rollouts
  • Procure to Pay process, including purchase orders, receipts, invoice follow up, and creditors reconciliation, where appropriate.
  • Keep a risk register for ROPs Business Unit and suggest and/or implement mitigating controls.
  • Business Improvement evaluations and process improvements.
  • 3year Degree in Finance or Accounting or related
  • Honours degree an advantage

Minimum 3 years' experience in a financial / accounting environment dealing with:

  • Creditors
  • Preparation of budgets
  • Motivation writing and
  • Financial reporting
  • Risk management

Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:

  • Computer MS Office

  • Procure to Pay process
  • Financial Principles
  • Accounting knowledge
  • Retail finance processes
  • Revenue reconciling and reporting and presentation.
