Packhouse Manager

• Matric equivalent and any higher institution certification relevant.
• Five to ten years of operational experience related to the organization's industry required with leadership experience.
• Strong supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to develop and communicate the organization's mission, values and vision.
• Strong Strategic, analytical and problemsolving skills
• Proficient Reporting skills
• Possess a degree of technical skills around machinery and services in the department
• Willingness to relocate
• Multilanguage proficiency

• Oversees the daily administration of the Packhouse across the support functions of finance, HR/IR, housekeeping, compliance and maintenance.
• Ensures that all operations are running in the most costefficient manner and seeks innovative means to achieve business objectives.
• Drafts and implements performance standards; conducts performance reviews for all subordinates.
• Leads, manages and motivates Captains and packers to achieve required KPI's
• Upholds company values, communicates the values
• Reports to the Operations Manager, maintaining open communication and disclosure of conditions, operations, and needs.
• Develops platforms to support strong lines of communication and engagement with the Captains, the Packers and the indirect staff.
• Develops short, medium and long terms goals, and drives performance within the relevant pacing teams to achieve these goals.
• Manages packer performance, both poor and exceptional, through the use of the correct channels.
• Motivates the employees to perform according to the performance standards.
• Identifies potential and facilitates succession planning and talent management through the necessary channels.
• Ensures necessary training is done across all levels in the Packhouse.
• Ensures staff compliance to all necessary SOP's, regulations and procedures.
• Prepares the annual departmental budget, covering all input and resource costs.
• Manages monthly costs according to budget, and reports insight into variances to budget.
• Ensures all administrative processes are followed across the departmental scope
• Manages all resource inventories, ensuring business continuity whilst constantly ensuring best cost modelling on inputs
• Ensures readiness for all audits, and upkeep of all GMP and regulatory standards needed for compliance to standards.
• Manages asset care in the packhouse, through implementing, maintaining and improving planned maintenance systems.
• Ensures assets and machinery are running at optimum efficiencies and meeting the defined KPI's for each of the machines.
• Identifies areas of improvement and modification in order to achieve better efficiencies across all assets.
• Manages the maintenance team within the department to ensure assets are maintained according to schedule, in order to reduce downtime.
• Analyses OEE reports and performs RCA when assets are not operating at the optimum efficiencies.
• Engages with the Operations Manager around CAPEX requirements and drives the outcomes of CAPEX projects that have been approved.
