Established in 2018, Molo Mhlaba Schools is a vibrant and exceptional, independent Montessori school that values the unique potential of each child.

We are currently serving 160 girls aged years.

Molo Mhlaba is a non-profit organisation that supports young girls with STEAM (science, technology, engineering, the arts and maths) education, early literacy development, physical health education and outreach programmes for children in the Khayelitsha community.

Molo Mhlaba is seeking a dedicated and passionate Montessori teacher to join our vibrant community As a 6-9 Montessori Teacher, you will have the opportunity to guide and support the academic, social, and emotional development of our students in a prepared environment that fosters independence, curiosity, and a love of learning.


6-9 Montessori Guide Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Classroom Responsibilities:

  • Lead a group of 69 year old students in a Montessori prepared environment
  • Develop and implement individualised lesson plans that align with Montessori principles and curriculum
  • Encourage and support students' selfdirected learning and exploration
  • Foster a sense of community and respect among students
  • Ensuring classroom supplies and equipment are available and in working condition
  • Ensuring a clean and prepared environment for learning daily

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with colleagues to create a cohesive and supportive learning environment
  • Setting an excellent example for students and instilling good values in them such as honesty, accountability, respect, and care
  • A lifelong learner who can be a good role model for children
  • Identify students who are academically at risk and initiate intervention strategies
  • Participate in all schoolbased professional development
  • Participate in schoolwide planning to maintain continuity between classrooms and throughout the school
  • Contribute to staff and teacher meetings.

Community Responsibilities:

  • Meet with parents on a regular basis and hold parent conferences
  • Participate in school activities and accompanying students on field trips
  • Attend and participate in Molo Mhlaba community events
  • Serve on staff committees and extramural activities

Education and Experience:

  • A valid SACE registration and adherence to SACE Code of Conduct
  • A recognised Montessori qualification/proven experience in this field
  • BEd qualification in Foundation Phase
  • At least 2 years experience working with children in a Montessori setting, including working with students from diverse backgrounds
  • Strong understanding of Montessori philosophy and methods
